My Thoughts on 14 Day Skinny Teatox

I was totally not aware of teatoxes, but apparently, they are now a thing. Recently I had the opportunity to try one of such programs – a 14-day course from a Canadian company Skinny Teatox.

skinny-teatox-review-01According to the website, Skinny Teatox promotes:

  • Weight loss
  • Burn calories
  • Boost metabolism
  • Cleanse
  • Detoxify
  • Suppress appetite
  • Increase energy levels

The program kit includes a resealable bag with loose leaf tea, and another bag with seven colon cleanse tea bags. I also got an adorable strawberry-shaped silicone infuser, that is super handy to use if you want to make just one cup of tea.

There was also a booklet with some obvious recommendations, like drinking plenty of water, avoiding sweets, fatty and overly processed foods, exercising, and including lots of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein in your diet. So basically, Skinny Teatox is aimed to amplify the results of a healthy lifestyle, which is a pretty reasonable expectation.

skinny-teatox-review-03MY RESULTS: I diligently followed the program for two weeks, although I didn’t always stick to a perfectly healthy diet. The daily tea actually tasted pretty nice and refreshing, it has a grassy flavor with a citrusy/lemongrass fragrance to it. This tea is supposed to energize the body and suppress appetite, and the energizing part was definitely true – I felt awake and alert, so the effect was almost caffeine-like. This tea didn’t really suppress my appetite though, however, it did numb my taste buds – an effect you can feel almost immediately after drinking.

The detox tea should be taken every other day in the evening; it takes a few hours to start working, so you will feel the effect right after you wake up the next day. Word of caution: don’t let the tea steep longer than 2 minutes, seriously, don’t – the result will be quite unpleasant.

skinny-teatox-review-02After two weeks, I collected my thoughts about this experience, and to be honest, on its own this teatox probably wouldn’t have helped me lose any weight. However, it did encourage me to lead a healthier lifestyle, and gave me some extra energy during the day. The nighttime cleanse was very gentle on the days when I followed my 2-minute steeping rule, and helped flush out toxins without any discomfort whatsoever. I did manage to lose 1lb, but I’m sure this was due to my lifestyle choices rather than the teatox. If I had to do this again, I would probably just buy the daytime tea on its own, because I felt like it really gave me a nice boost of energy, and it tastes great, too.

Have you tried a teatox before? Do you think it’s effective, or is it just another marketing gimmick? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
