My name is Anastasia, a 30-some-year-old blogger who just can’t get enough of beauty products. I enjoy experimenting with my skincare routine and always trying different brands: from high end luxury products to more affordable drugstore items; and of course I love sharing my experience along the way.
My biggest makeup obsessions are primers with SPF, mascaras, and light to medium coverage complexion products, because the “natural look” I love so much requires a good canvas. I’m also a huge skin care fanatic, and trying new lotions and potions is probably my favorite part of being a blogger, because I find this pampering experience very therapeutic. Lately I’ve gotten into Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese skin care, so I’ve been experimenting with a multi-step routine that goes beyond the traditional cleanser-toner-moisturizer trio we’re used to in the West. Ampoules, bubbling oxygen treatments, algae sheet masks, hydrogel eye patches – that’s where the fun is at!
Please forgive weird wordings or grammatical mistakes that you will inevitably encounter in this blog; truth is, English is not my first language as I am originally from Moscow, Russia. I moved to the US very recently – in September 2011 – after marrying my best friend of 10 years. I’m glad that he understands my passion for beauty products and doesn’t mind that sometimes our bathroom looks like an aisle at Sephora 🙂
I find my inspiration in many wonderful things life has to offer: nature, old movies, classical music, beauty magazines, high fashion, delicious food, experiencing other cultures, photography – just to name a few!
I know that beauty bloggers are often perceived as experts on skin care and makeup, just because we have the opportunity to try the latest products before anyone else and compare them to each other. However, I’m not a make-up artist, a so-called “guru” or a beauty professional, so all of my reviews are just personal opinions as a regular girl sharing her thoughts with everyone who wants to gain a new perspective. Remember, everything in beauty is YMMV, so if a product works for me, it won’t necessarily work the same way for you, and vice versa.
Before I was a blogger, I was a reader, and the thing that frustrated me the most was the lack of transparency. On Glamorable I always make it clear at the very beginning if the story is sponsored, if the product was provided for consideration, or if I’m using affiliate links, and ultimately you decide if you want to continue reading the post or not. I only accept sponsored opportunities from companies I support and feel good writing about, and I would never “sell out” to tout a product I don’t personally believe in or otherwise would never buy.
Recently [in September 2015] I welcomed a new assistant and contributor to Glamorable. Her name is Luna, a beautiful Siberian Forest Cat, who quickly won the hearts of my family and readers after her cameos [read: photobombs] in my product reviews. Now she’s an integral part of the process, so you’ll be seeing more of her charming whiskers and bushy tail for years to come! To see all of Luna’s appearances, search hashtag #lunathesiberian on social media. We share it with a husky show dog, but they haven’t posted anything in a while. Alternatively, you can add me on Snapchat by username – glamorable – to get to know me better behind the scenes. Most of the content is not beauty-related, and I feature Luna there all the time.
I normally don’t mention this at the risk of sounding like I’m bragging, but my husband said it would be cool if I told you guys that I used to be a movie actress back in Russia. I used a screen name for acting, and actually appeared on the radio, and on several live TV shows [including shows on MTV-Russia] after scoring my biggest role in a teen comedy Zaymemsya Lyubovyu . The movie received multiple regional awards, including a Russian version of “Teen Choice” award. It’s a typical silly teen comedy, sort of like American Pie, but with an unexpected dark twist at the end. Back when I was a teen I thought it was pretty fun, but now that I’m in my 30s the plot seems a little silly, so consider yourselves warned – it could be a waste of your time if you do decide to watch it 🙂
Prior to being an actress I also had a short modeling experience, appearing in a couple ad campaigns for two clothing brands that later showed up as inserts in Seventeen magazine and in brands’ retail stores. Mind you, guys, that was all during late 90s to early 2000s, so to me this feels like it was in another life! These days I’m just an ordinary housewife living in a small coastal town in the Midwest, and I couldn’t be happier with my life.
Blogging for me is something of a part-time business; I don’t earn enough to consider it a real source of income, but the revenue covers all of my blog-related expenses and also allows for a couple occasional beauty splurges every now and then, all thanks to you guys who click ads and shop through my links. It would be nice to make real money with it some day, but I’m not making it my goal – if it happens it happens, if not, I won’t beat myself up over it.
