I’m from Mugwort Essence & Cream Review (after 1 year of use)
Have you heard of I’m from Mugwort line? Brought to you by the creators of the famous Rice Toner, the Mugwort collection became just as popular in the recent years after some of their products went viral on TikTok. I lost count of how many times my favorite k-beauty youtubers mentioned the essence and the cream, and finally had a chance to try both for myself! I took my sweet time testing both of these throughout the entire 2023, so I have a pretty good idea how well they work.
I’m from Mugwort Essence ($40) is probably the most hyped product from the line. It promises instant soothing and hydrating benefits, and contains only a single ingredient – 100% Artemisia Extract, that’s been aged over 3 years. In my opinion, it totally lives up to the hype. This fragrance-free and alcohol-free formula is as gentle as a feather, and works really well for sensitive, stressed, or reactive skin. After adding it to my routine (used as a toner) I noticed a lot less redness right away, and the extra hydration helps keep the skin stay supple and resilient. I used it while on tretinoin to combat the redness and flakiness, and off-tretinoin for overall soothing effect; my skin was very happy either way.
Ingredients: Artemisia Princeps Extract 100%
I’m from Mugwort Cream ($32) is a semi-lightweight moisturizer for sensitive skin that contains quite a few ingredients, but the main one is still 73.55% Artemisia extract. It offers some of the same calming benefits as the essence, but also boasts additional antioxidant-rich extracts, ferments, and humectants to make it a one-step product for reactive skin. You can use this on top of your favorite serum and essence if you are looking for a soothing effect, without sacrificing actives. The texture feels like a gel-cream that is more on the cream side. It’s not sticky at all, and leaves the skin slightly velvety when it absorbs.

BOTTOM LINE:
Using both the cream and the essence in the same routine is redundant, IMO, because they serve the same purpose. I do believe that the cream is excellent as a standalone product, and can work well with your favorite serum. For what it’s worth, the cream is a little cheaper but the essence will last you longer. The essence should work well for all skin types, but if you have dry skin I recommend adding something else to the routine if you are using the cream – an oil or a balm, or something – because it’s relatively lightweight.
