I’m sharing Secret in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™.
You know it’s spring when bloggers and youtubers start talking about declutter. I, too, was swept away by the spring cleaning wave and recently purged about 80% of my makeup stash. In addition to that, I finally sat down and went through my entire closet to pick out a comprehensive spring capsule wardrobe that would include pieces for any occasion.
I know I rarely share my outfits with you guys, but that’s because I feel like my style is nothing special. However, when I do share, I receive the loveliest comments, and they inspire me to do it more often. Today I decided to give you a tiny glimpse into my spring capsule wardrobe. The main reason I’m especially proud of it is that I shopped my closet 100%, and do not plan to make any new seasonal purchases until summer. I wouldn’t call myself a shopaholic, but I am guilty of buying a few pieces now and then if I spot a good sale, even if I don’t particularly need anything. A capsule wardrobe not only limits what I can wear, but it also encourages me to think of creative ways on wearing what I already own.
When picking my favorites I found out a few things about myself.
1 // I love jeans. Like, I seriously can’t picture my wardrobe without skinny jeans, a denim skirt, or a pair of jean shorts. Unfortunately, shorts and skirts are not going to be weather-appropriate in my area anytime soon, but I picked a nice selection of multi-colored denim as my bottoms of choice.
2 // I also love stripes. Which is surprising even to me, because in retail stores I tend to skip them on the shelves, yet I always somehow end up buying striped shirts online.
3 // Pink. I was never one for pastels in my wardrobe, except on my nails, but this year I really fell in love with soft pinks. Somehow, this girly color quickly grew on me, so I’ve been wearing it a lot lately.
4 // Metallics. Metallic fabrics, shoes, and accessories are really popular right now, so I was happy to discover several basic pieces that I already had in my closet from years ago. Fashion is always moving forward, but some trends tend to come back from time to time, and it’s fun to revisit old favorites.
While we’re on the topic of wearing fun pieces…
Some of you may know that I used aluminum-free deodorants a few years back, and for a while they worked alright, although they were not ideal for stressful situations. Now that I am approaching my mid-30s, my body is changing and the deodorants I used in the past gradually stopped working. It got to a point where I didn’t want to leave the house because I had to take yet another shower to feel refreshed. And surely I don’t need to explain how embarrassing it is to keep your arms as close to your body as possible so that nobody notices the pit stains.
Lately I have been using both Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel and Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid, and I couldn’t be happier. My past negative experience with deodorants gave me much-needed perspective on how we take simple life luxuries – like a good antiperspirant – for granted. I really mean it when I say that I can truly rely on Secret Clinical Strength antiperspirants when it comes to odor and sweat protection. I feel comfortable and excited to wear whatever I want. I no longer need to limit myself to dark tops where the sweat would not be as noticeable. In a way, it’s liberating.
I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek of my spring capsule wardrobe! I plan to shop around for a proper garment rack that I can easily move around so I could have all of my seasonal picks at arm’s reach. It will also make cute photos for the blog and encourage me to feature my outfits more often. 🙂
Have you tried building a seasonal capsule wardrobe? What is your favorite fashion trend this year so far? Let me know in the comments!

Very interesting post! I also love jeans and stripes 😀 I wear jeans almost every day and can’t really imagine my life without them.
I know, right? I always feel like I dress too casually, because I wear jeans all the time 🙂
I just destashed a load of polishes, I definitely feel in the decluttering mood ATM x
You go girl! Destashing can sometimes feel heartbreaking, but in the end it’s very rewarding.
Curious about your sequined top – looks so pretty. I was a fan of Clinical Strength Secret – that stuff really works!
Thank you Allison, the top is from Ann Taylor 🙂
Metallics are everything right now. Nothing screams spring like a pastel +metallic pairing.
Right? I have the perfect pleated metallic skirt to wear with my tshirts, too.
Beautiful selection – The clothing picks seem so light and airy, while the accessories add a nice punch of color.
Thank you! I wish I was more adventurous with my bottoms, but hey, I love what I love haha 🙂
I love florals! I don’t know why, but the last year, I’ve upped my floral game in the wardrobe department, especially scuba dresses
My mom and sister are obsessed with florals too, but I’ve always been more of a stripes/solids girl. Florals always remind me of summer 🙂
I’ve never been a fan of wearing prints but it looks like the few new things that I got recently all have some sort of print. By the way, I love the soft pink nail polish.
Funny what we discover about our shopping habits, eh? I never thought I was a stripes girl either.
Love your classy picks! And I am a fan of Secret Clinical strength as well. I favor clothes that are a little loud so my spring wardrobe includes a dress with boom box stereos on it and a button down top with Lipstick and nail polish bottles on it. 🙂
Wow, a dress with boom box stereos? Now that I gotta see! I bet it looks amazing on you 🙂
My wardrobe is grey or black, it is prob due to the fact I am in makeup and live in New York. But I love seeing color on yours!
A classic New Yorker, aren’t you, Norah? 🙂
I love metallics and would enjoy wearing them more often. I love seeing wardrobes since mine is so blah.
Funny that you mention that, because I always thought my wardrobe is blah and not really worth showing on this blog. I’m sure someone would love to see yours too.
I don’t have a seasonal wardrobe at all – I don’t follow trends because it’s difficult living where it’s 80-100 degrees pretty much year round. I really miss being able to wear seasonal clothing (boots, sweaters).
You know, I never really appreciated seasonal wear until I spent a few months in a really hot area. As much as I complain about snow, rain, and such, I bet I would miss wearing boots and coats.
Eeep! How on earth did you manage to purge 80% of your makeup stash? I can barely get rid of 1%, and it’s all glosses and bright/dark lipsticks that are given away. You need to do a decluttering post.
right? I was amazed. 80% means no regrets…I always overthink it
Haha, you guys are so cute! And trust me, it was not an easy purge, especially when I finally got to the high end makeup. I didn’t immediately throw away things, just put them in a bag and left in a closet for a couple of weeks just to make sure that I really won’t miss any of it.
I loveeee your purchases. I’m also destashing right now (I’ve been doing it since January!) and so far I’ve culled about 50%. I’d love to get to 80%, that would be amazing.
I had a LOT of old makeup that I literally had to toss, which made the process easier. Good luck with your destashing, it’s a daunting but very rewarding process!
I still love the rose gold trend. I’ve decluttered my pantry and my closet and next week a girlfriend is going to help me purge my makeup.
Rose gold trend is fabulous, and I hope it never goes away. Good luck purging your makeup collection, it’s going to be a long night 🙂
Decluttering is on my to do list once I get back from Polish Con next weekend. I’ve started some, but I have a ways to go yet! I love your picks for the season!
Have fun at Polish Con, I bet it will be amazing!
It’s so strange how tastes can change over time, I used to wear dark blue denim jeans 24/7 but nowadays I much prefer black skinny jeans and contrasting the dark pants with more delicate tops
I know, right? I went from tomboy to wearing nothing but skirts and dresses, to jeans and athleisure.
the top pair of shoes!!! I don’t know what to call them except metallic but they are fantastic!!!
Oh thank you! I got them at Nine West, but they are from a suuuuper old collection, maybe from 4 years ago, so I doubt they’re still in stores.
I’m not one who changes clothes due to the season. I literally wear jeans, basic tees from Target, hoodies, and my Bobs shoes year round. I do love some metallic nails though!
I love Target, they have awesome fashion collabs! Last time I totally went to town when they released a Who What Wear collection.
I don’t know what that is. I just buy the basic v necks. I think Mossimo is the brand. Not 100%
I really enjoyed this post. I don’t really curate capsule collections, unless you call jeans, comfy tops and PJ’s for around the house a capsule collection. 😉 lol
Thank you Erika, I had fun writing it and photographing some of my seasonal picks!
Jeans are basically the best thing ever!
Your shoes are so cute 🙂
Jeans are a godsend, aren’t they? So easy to wear, and they’re slimming, too 😉
OH y gosh – those shoes are awesome. I am a jeans person… I’ll wear it all year round, along with leggings… I definitely look forward to more dresses during this time of year though.
I need to take out some of my dresses, too, but I doubt I’d be able to wear them until summer, because it’s still not dress weather here in Michigan.
I’m the actual worst with clothes, because I’ll wear jeans and black tshirts, tank tops or hoodies year round. I’ve been wearing the same pair of black Vans sneakers for almost 3 years, haha. I love to look at clothes and I love the idea of being fashionable and cute but when it comes down to it, I just don’t think that’s who I am. As far as Secret deodorant, that’s the only kind I wear. I’ve been looking for a cruelty free option, but I haven’t found one that I can use yet. I’ve had bad reactions to literally every deodorant I’ve tried other than Secret so far, so I’ve stuck with it for years.
I am never without a good anti-perspirant – feeling sticky and sweaty just puts a damper on my mood. Luckily with the great new products out now I don’t have to worry about it.
I swear by the secret too but I use conditioning solid. I’ve been hooked for many years and is my number one go to deodorant.
Great post. Secret is the only deodorant Ive worn for the past decade.
I already did my sprig cleaning and found myself getting rid of so many things. Now I need to rebuild my wardrobe. LOL
Such pretty pieces you’ve shared with us! I looooove denim pieces too – jeans, skirts, jackets, vests, shorts…!
Love all the light tones. <3
I just added skirts into my wardrobe.
