Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Ideas To Spoil Mom With (That Are Not Beauty Products!)

Ever since I started sharing my Mother’s Day gift ideas on this blog, I always kept the focus on beauty products. This year, in addition to the beauty gift guide [coming very soon], I decided to do something different and show you a few of my personal lifestyle picks that make the perfect gifts. These pieces were all hand-selected by me, and they’re all products I would feel proud to give my mom as well as receive as a gift from somebody else. Each one is beautiful and very special, and soon you will see why.

1 // A few weeks back I was browsing through Amara boutique to find the perfect porcelain cup for my afternoon tea, and stumbled across this gorgeous Wedgwood Daisy Tea Story Teacup and Saucer set. Mom was the one who taught me the intricacies of high tea back when I was a little girl, and to this day freshly brewed whole leaf Earl Grey is my preferred midday beverage. This set looked lovely on the website but the pictures truly don’t do it justice. Both the cup and the saucer are even more delicate and elegant in real life!

Wedgwood Daisy Tea Story Teacup and Saucer duo comes in a beautiful round keepsake box that makes the gift feel even more precious. You may think that a pretty porcelain cup may not be the most practical gift, but it’s actually dishwasher safe, so you or your giftee can easily use this set daily without having to worry about hand washing it.

2 // You know what else makes a fool-proof gift? A classic watch, that also works as an accessory to complement many outfits. I think our generation doesn’t use traditional hand watches much anymore, unless they are smart-watches, but our parents and grandparents still rely on theirs a lot. My mom for instance loves having a pretty watch for any occasion. She has a several that she wears for everyday errands, and a couple really nice ones that she wears only for special occasions. When I showed her Henry London Shoreditch Pink Leather Strap Watch with Trio Dial, she said that it would have been one of the best gifts to receive for her Birthday or Mother’s Day.

She has great taste, doesn’t she? 🙂 This is a gorgeous piece and it really made me want to wear watches more often. I have an old classic Tissot [a gift from my parents for my 18th birthday] that needs to be polished and its battery replaced, and I plan to start wearing it again after it’s fixed.

3 // Speaking of accessories, don’t you think Ted Baker Elvas Mini Button Ultra Thin Cuff in rose gold with silver glitter accents is utterly charming? These open-ended bangles are seriously my favorite. The metal is soft and bendable, so the bracelet can be easily widened or tightened to fit any wrist size. The design is classic with a modern twist, so I can see women of all ages being able to wear this lovely piece.

4 // Scarves and shawls also make thoughtful and practical gifts. A featherweight cashmere scarf can be so thin, it will fit easily into the smallest of purses, yet it will keep you warm on a chilly afternoon. I was very impressed with the quality of Sofia Cashmere scarves. I have one of these in Silver color, but they also come in White and Orange/Gray dip dye styles. Doesn’t it look like a cloud? It feels like one, too! By the way, these are currently on sale at half off at amara.com, but hurry, the stock is very limited.

5 // For my final product in this gift guide, I thought I would add a home decor piece – Pols Potten Prickle Decorative Ornament. My mom loves decorating, but styling shelves and coffee tables can be difficult. Her biggest complaint is that she often sees a cute objet on sale and wants to buy multiple, but it’s kind of weird to have the same statement piece all over the house. It’s not like potted plants and trays that can easily be duplicated. Giving a fairly neutral but pretty tabletop piece like this prickle ornament can be a very unique option if you want to do something different for Mother’s Day this year. I think this particular piece can fit many decor styles, from classic to modern. Just make sure that your giftee actually likes decorating first before giving a present like this. For instance, my very frugal grandma probably wouldn’t know what to do with it. While it has certain aesthetic appeal, she would fail to see its practical value, while my mom would be delighted to get one of these.
