Trust me, blogging about Louboutin and NARS is not the only thing we do around here, haha! I love me a solid drugstore find as much as the next girl, and this week’s picks are well worth checking out if you find yourself wandering the aisles of your local Target, Walmart, or CVS.
First of all, I want to share my love for the entire Purifying line from Derma E – it works so well for oilier skin types! Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub ($15.50) is a physical exfoliant for those who don’t like acids and prefer to use scrubs instead to improve skin texture and remove dead skin cells. It’s very gentle for a facial scrub and never irritated my skin before. Although I don’t use physical scrubs much anymore, I reach for this one from time to time when I want instant gratification.
Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50) is a scrub and a clay mask in one, so you get the benefits of both in one treatment. This is probably better for people with oily and combo skin because it can be very mattifying, especially if you leave it on your face for more than 15 minutes – for me 10 is usually enough. I love the instant glow!
My current jar of PIXI Glow Tonic To-Go ($17.99) is not in a very presentable condition right now [cracked lid and most of the text scratched/washed off] so I pulled out a spare for this photo. If you are a fan of the original Glow Tonic, these single-use pre-soaked pads will give you the same results, but with some extra convenience. This toner is famous for being a decent entry level AHA for people that never used acid peels before, and is a great product to help the skin build up tolerance to chemical exfoliation so you can move on to stronger things. Personally, I use it every other day or so when I want to give my skin a break.
And finally, those of you who haven’t tried Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water ($6.99), these are among my favorite recent drugstore releases. For years I’ve been splurging on Bioderma Sensibio and Lancome Bi-Facil, but Garnier rocked my world with these affordable dupes. The pink one is perfect for using in the morning or to remove non-waterproof makeup, and the blue one is a bi-phase heavy duty makeup remover that can tackle any long-lasting and waterproof formulas. I use it around the eyes too – it doesn’t sting one bit.
