Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Collection Review
Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Collection is the brand’s newly reimagined Orange Grove, which was always a popular choice for warm months. This fresh and classic fragrance is perfect for summer! It takes the wearer on an olfactory vacation to a warm Andalusian courtyard, filled with the scents of blooming neroli, bitter bergamot, and warm musk.
“I was inspired by the freshness and natural feel of citrus fruits and flowers; infusing contemporary ingredients such as blossoming neroli and soft musk for an enduringly happy essence”, says master perfumer Beverley Bayne, the nose behind the fragrance. I’ve been to Spain in the summer before and can attest that Molton Brown perfectly captured the vibe here!
Orange & Bergamot Collection is fairly expansive and includes a bunch of different SKUs, from body washes and lotions, to bathing oil, hand cream, candles and perfume, plus multiple gift sets. Not surprised, considering its predecessor Orange Grove was always one of the brand’s biggest bestsellers all year round. While the collection is likely to be permanent, several of the products are currently available in exclusive, limited edition illustrated packaging, but they’re going fast – the body wash is already sold out. There were four of them total: hand wash, body wash, hand lotion, and body lotion. These special bottles were released for Mother’s Day and feature a lovely citrus grove design, elaborate but also minimalist at the same time.
As always, Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Bath & Shower Gel ($32) is my favorite in this collection. My love for Molton Brown body washes runs so deep, it’s almost impossible to find another brand that delivers a similar experience. As usual, the formula is superb: lush, soft lather creates mounds of fragrant bubbles that leave the skin feeling soft and lightly scented for hours.
All Molton Brown body washes act as an extension of their respective fragrances. This one opens with the top notes of orange, bergamot and mandarin, then all of a sudden you’re enveloped in a whirlwind of neroli petals, spicy cardamom and galbanum, before finally calming into a warm bed of musk, ylang-yland and cedarwood bark. It goes from bright and crisp, to sweet and spicy, and finally covers the skin like a warm and cozy veil – a very different experience from your typical body washes, which all tend to smell more “linear.” The only reason I haven’t replaced all the body washes in my house with MB, is the cost. Unfortunately, at the rate my household goes through them, it’s hard to justify the expense. Still, I make it a habit to indulge and restock my stash a couple times a year either during Black Friday sales or Friends & Family sale. So worth it!
