Memebox Baby Smooth Skin was my very last box that got curated by the Korean team, but it took a long time to get to me because of weather issues and longshoremen’s strike. I was almost ready to declare it as lost, but it eventually made it to my mailbox and now I am the happy owner of some really sweet products.
HOW IT WORKS: Memebox is not a typical subscription service. They periodically curate boxes filled with assorted beauty products popular among Koreans, and those Limited Edition bundles are sold on first come first serve basis. Prices vary depending on the type of the box. At this time Memebox ships to USA, China and Korea. All themed boxes tend to sell out fast, so by the time you read this review this particular box probably won’t be available for sale anymore. Click here to see available boxes.

DR. MJ Real Mucin Restore Foam Cleanser – This makes it a third product from Real Mucin line that I own, and I have to say that so far I’ve been very happy with everything. I always test new cleansers with pH strips these days, and this one showed pH8.0 when applied straight from the tube, and pH7.0 when turned into a foam. Seven is as high as I’m willing to go with my skincare, so it barely passes, but I’m glad it did, because that’s one of the few Korean cleansers that’s not super harsh.
How to use: Lather with wet hands and apply foam to the face. Gently massage and rinse off with lukewarm water. Suitable for oily, combination, and normal skin.
Ettang Modeling Take-Out Cup Pack Propolis – Also known as “rubber packs”, modeling packs are really fun to play with! You pour water into the cup, stir the powder inside to make into a paste, and then quickly spread a thick layer over your entire face and neck, and wait about 10 minutes until it dries out to the consistency of play-doh.Then it just comes off in big chunks, and the skin looks instantly brighter and firmer. I have no idea how this stuff works, but it really does.
How to use: Pour the water into the cup until half-filled, stir well with the spatula, and immediately apply it to the skin. Wait 10 minutes or until the mask dries to a rubbery finish, and slowly peel it off in chunks. Suitable for all skin types.
Dermakey She’s 4th Aurora Skin Elixir 3D Perfection – Dermakey Aurora series is known for its brightening properties. Their products are normally very expensive, so I’m surprised that a full-sized bottle it showed up in our boxes. This lightweight moisturizer contains niacinamide to help diminish the look of sun spots and acne scars, and promises to improve complexion over time with continuous use. It also serves as a good primer base for makeup.
How to use: Apply 3-4 pumps to clean skin in the AM and gently pat in for absorbance. Suitable for all skin types.
Bavar Max Calming Cream – I feel like I have enough moisturizers already, but this one caught my attention because it sounded like the perfect treatment for my irritated and dehydrated skin. The formula doesn’t contain common irritating chemicals, parabens, mineral oil, artificial color etc, so I could use it even during my worst hormonal breakout days without the fear that the situation would escalate. It has runny, slightly sticky texture, and immediately absorbs by the skin, leaving it soft, supple, and a little powdery to touch.
How to use: Apply to skin after cleanser, toner, and serum, and pat in until absorbed. Suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive.
Neogen Exdigm Rough Foot & Knee Scrub – Neogen is like a unicorn in the Memebox world, their products are always highly sought after, and they are also hard to get in a swap, because almost everyone knows how good they are. This scrub combines the benefits of a body wash and scrub, and cleanses away odor causing bacteria, dead skin cells, and product residue to reveal softer skin day after day.
How to use: Apply a small amount of gel to wet feet and knees, and gently massage in circular motions, then wash off with lukewarm water. Suitable for people with rough feet and knees.
THE VERDICT: This was a very precious box, and the products inside all seem to be really nice. The value, of course, is outstanding, and seeing these numbers makes me feel a little bittersweet. On one hand, I’m happy that I had a chance to experience so much Korean skincare in just one year, on another hand I’m sad because we probably won’t ever see most of these brands again, unless Memebox USA somehow manages to work out a deal with those companies. But anyway, I think so far my favorites from Baby Soft Skin box are the modeling pack, and Bavar moisturizer. I plan to give the serum/essence a proper trial run in the near future, and Neogen body scrub is effective, but not very exciting.
