Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca

When I was younger I didn’t care about matching fragrances to seasons, but after turning 30 I started to appreciate how scents play on the skin at different times of the year. I associate herbal and citrusy notes with early Spring, when the air is still a bit cold, but the sun is already warm and welcoming. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca is that kind of fragrance – crisp, minty, and sweet; and perfectly suited for daytime wear.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca I first smelled it on my Mom when she came to visit me two years ago, and she said she immediately bought it after smelling it on someone else at the store. I decided not to break the chain of enabling and immediately ordered a bottle as a special treat for my Birthday.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba FrescaHerba Fresca is a fragrance for those who can pull off minty citrus, as those notes can sometimes clash with individual body chemistry. The bouquet is deceptively simple, but it slowly reveals its complex nature. It opens up with fresh notes of clover leaf and Italian lemon, then reveals the minty heart of spearmint and green tea, and later dries down to bittersweet florals lily of the valley, cyclamen and pear flower.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba FrescaGuerlain describes their creation as “green plants after a storm”, which in my opinion is the perfect comparison. It smells fresh and clean at first, but if you take deeper breaths, you will eventually notice all of its subtle floral and citrusy undertones.

WHERE TO BUY: $65 USD for 2.5 oz. Available at Nordstrom, Macy’s.
