On the right: Stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick in Patina

IN THE BAG:

1 // Youth to the People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner ($38 – $4.75 value) – This resurfacing toner with a blend of 9% lactic acid and 3% glycolic acid helps gently exfoliate the dead skin cells and improve skin tone. I think it’s a lovely starter toner for younger skin or those looking for a gentle AHA exfoliant that won’t sting too much. This formula is probably too weak for my late-30s skin, but I’m still rating it 5/5 because it’s really well-formulated and I would highly recommend it to AHA beginners!

2 // Kinship Naked Papaya Gentle Enzyme Face Cleanser ($22 – $1.76 value) – You don’t need an expensive cleanser, but you want it to be on a more acidic side because it helps protect the skin’s acid mantle responsible for healthy skin function. This one left my skin feeling soft and smooth without drying it out. 4.5/5

3 // Laruce Beauty LR222 Kabuki Brush in Denim Blue Collection ($30) – I goofed and put this brush into my Glam Bag Plus photos, but it was actually part of the regular Glam Bag this month. I was introduced to Laruce by Ipsy a few months ago and was very impressed with the quality of their brushes. The bristles are lush and soft, the handles are substantial and easy to grip but also not too heavy. These really do feel like luxury brushes! 5/5

4 // BYROE Salmon Cream ($125 – $48 value) – Something in this moisturizer doesn’t agree with my skin. It feels both too light and too heavy at the same time: my pores feel congested and yet the skin doesn’t feel any more moisturized than usual. Also, I thought the fragrance was too overpowering. 1.5/5

5 // Stila Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick in Patina ($22 – $11 value) – This is a very generous lipstick sample that will last a long time! Unfortunately, the color wasn’t a good fit for me but I appreciate the opportunity to try out the formula, which by the way is phenomenal. The lippie is creamy, opaque, and long-wearing, plus it looks amazing on the lips. I will be exploring other shades because I really enjoyed the way it wears! 5/5

BOTTOM LINE:

Not bad for the inaugural bag this year (no pun intended lol!) This bag was really high value, but my favorite part was discovering the Stila lippie because I instantly fell in love with the formula, even though this particular shade wasn’t for me. YTPP samples are always a welcome surprise, too, and it happens to be one of my favorite botanicals-based brands from Sephora. The moisturizer was disappointing, though. It seems to be a bougie product and the ingredient list looks good on paper, but this is yet more proof that you can never tell whether you’re going to like the product or not by just looking at the ingredients – formulation is king!

The value of my Ipsy December 2020 Glam bag: $95.51
