As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog post, there seems to be a general misconception on when it’s appropriate to start using anti-aging skincare. “I don’t have wrinkles yet, so I don’t need anti-aging products” – I hear this one too often, and while everyone is free to do what they want with their body, this is not the approach I personally agree with. To be honest, to me that phrase sounds like “I don’t have melanoma yet, so I won’t wear SPF”, but to each their own, right? However, it’s hard to argue with the facts, and the fact is our body starts losing 1% of its collagen every year starting around the ripe age of 21. Collagen is what makes your skin bounce back after all of those smiles, frowns, and wrinkly pillow cases, so I guess you guys get where I’m going with this. The less collagen your body produces, the more it shows on your face, especially in areas that get a lot of wear, like your forehead, lips, and eyes. In my case, I definitely started using collagen boosting skincare too late, so I will probably see my first wrinkles within the next few years around the time I turn 40.
