My hair journey has been a rocky one. Ever since I was young I always thought I looked a bit “generic”, and the only way I could make myself stand out was via clothes and hairstyles. I was so happy when my Mom finally let me dye my hair for the first time! I went all out and got myself a long bob with wide bleached stripes that were on-trend back in the late 90s. I felt like the chicest girl at school! Most high schools had a strict policy about wearing makeup, nail polish, and hair color, but mine was very lax because it’s an art school, so we had all sorts of colorful characters.

I’ve done many hair experiments since then. I chopped it all down to a pixie cut, and grew it out as long as the middle of my back. I had bangs and layers, highlights and lowlights. I colored it dark brown, light brown, and even blonde. That last one didn’t go too well, actually, because I ended up with green undertones and had to do multiple color corrections.
