Still Loving My Burt’s Bees Lip Butters

Raise your hand if your lips get extra dry in the winter, too! Whether you’re a skincare collector [like me] or a minimalist [who needs multiples of anything??], I think we can all agree that a reliable lip treatment is one of those things that’s really nice to have on hand. A lip butter can be used for so many things, here are just a few of my personal examples from this past month alone: cuticle balm, taming flyaways, treating rough elbows, impromptu cheek highlighter [seriously, it works]… My point is, this is probably one of the most versatile products in your beauty arsenal, so it makes sense to choose a good one. Luckily, these days good lip butters are pretty affordable!

I don’t know if you guys still remember, but I already shared my initial thoughts on the new Burt’s Bees Lip Butters (under $5 each!) when they first launched at ULTA Beauty way back in October, and now, four months later, I’m still very much in love with these. You’ve probably spotted me using the Rosemary & Lemon flavor on IG stories many times, too, because that’s the one I’ve been keeping with the rest of my skincare products. Today I wanted to share a little update on my experience so far, and maybe inspire you to try them out for yourself.

By the way, ULTA Beauty currently carries four delightful flavors:

  • Vanilla & Clove
  • Lavender & Honey
  • Orange Blossom & Pistachio
  • Rosemary & Lemon

My personal favorites are Vanilla & Clove and Rosemary & Lemon, but all of them smell wonderful. After all, the formula is 100% natural, so even if you are someone who doesn’t like products with added synthetic fragrance, you might actually enjoy these.

Did you know that Burt’s Bees is also one of the most sustainable drugstore beauty brands? With sustainability being more and more in focus in recent years, some opportunistic marketers are weaving the word into their advertising campaigns to cash in on the “trend”. We’ve already seen this happen with greenwashing, looks like sustainability is next on the list. Meanwhile, Burt’s Bees has been doing good for as long as the company existed. They used to publish yearly sustainability reports until 2012, which have since been replaced with shorter, more engaging and reader-friendly sustainability goals. You can check out their current goals for 2020 here.

Burt’s Bees is fully committed to their zero waste policy by making proper recycling part of the monthly routine for their employees in all three facilities to ensure that not a single piece of garbage goes to landfills. That little tin container your Lip Butter comes in is fully recyclable as well! You can rinse it out and bring it to any participating recycling location, or use the free Burt’s Bees mail-in recycling program. Simply fill out the form on this page to receive a prepaid mailing label, send your empty product, and they will properly recycle it for you.

So, what changed in four months? Not much, to be honest. I am still impressed with the formula of these lip butters and love the colorful and clever design of the tins. My lips always feel soft and protected, and I decided to spread the love by buying another set of four back in December to give away to friends and family for the Holidays. So far I heard nothing but rave reviews from them, too! Since I own all four flavors, I didn’t hit pan on any of them yet, but Rosemary & Lemon is getting there soon because I’ve been using it the most. I do still think these are absolutely lovely and would make a great gift for yourself or a loved one for any occasion, or just because.

Burt’s Bees Lip Butter is available at ULTA Beauty online and in stores for under $5.
