It’s been a while since I last featured PIXI on the blog, hasn’t it? Since my last post the brand released a whole bunch of new products, so I thought I’d share some of them with you today. First of all, we have two new skincare products in the Skintreats line – Hydrating Milky Mist and Nourishing Lip Polish. Another exciting addition to the lineup came in the form of much anticipated Book of Beauty palettes.
First of all, let’s talk about PIXI Skintreats Nourishing Lip Polish [$12, available here]. I have the worst luck with lip scrubs, the vast majority of them don’t seem to exfoliate my lips at all. This is one of the few that actually make my pout look smooth and plump in less than a minute. Enriched with shea butter and a special nourishing blend of sweet almond, apricot, and evening primrose oils, this 2-in-1 lip treatment features a silicone attachment that gently massages the lips, increasing circulation and helping deliver the moisturizing ingredients where they are needed most. I also really like that there’s no bitter aftertaste.
You know my love for Tatcha skincare, and their Dewy Skin Mist is probably in my personal Top 5 among all of the brand’s products I tried so far. Well, PIXI Hydrating Milky Mist [$15, available here] is a very close dupe that you can get at your local Target. Even though the ingredients aren’t exactly close to being the same, my skin didn’t seem to notice any difference. The formula contains a blend of black oat, provitamin A, and linoleic acid to seal in essential moisture and protect the skin from dehydration. Personally, I love using this mist instead of a toner after washing my face in the morning, and sometimes instead of a moisturizer on particularly hot days. PIXI also recommends using it as a makeup primer, but I haven’t tried that yet so I can’t comment on that. TLDR: it’s a remarkable mist that actually does something for your skin. Give it a try!
PIXI Book of Beauty [$24, available here] kits come in several different varieties: right now PIXI offers palettes with bronzers, blushes, brows, contouring colors, highlights, and a multi-purpose book with a little bit of everything. I received the latter, which is officially called Minimal Makeup palette. It contains two highlighters, two blushes, and four eye shadows in flattering neutral shades that will suit a wide range of complexions. Two matte eye shadows are a bit on the sheer side and need to be worn with primer or an eyeshadow base, but the other two that are shimmery have very rich buttery formulas. The blushes and highlighters were all great, and provided a full day of wear without fading on my combination skin.
BOTTOM LINE:
PIXI started off spring with a bang, am I right? If you guys want my opinion, I say that all of these products are worth a try, however, the colors in Book of Beauty Minimal Makeup kit can probably be duped for less. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d say that Hydrating Milky Mist is the most impressive among the three, because it’s really hard to compete with Tatcha, so to me that price difference alone is worth a lot. The lip polish is great, too, especially if you have chronically chapped lips.
