There aren’t a lot of fragrances that land on my editorial desk, mostly because I’m just too picky about my scents [also why I subscribe to Scentbird]. However, when I do choose to accept a bottle for consideration, it usually means that I checked out the notes and they seemed intriguing. As a floriental lover, how could I resist after seeing the bouquet in Elizabeth Arden Always Red [$50 at Macy’s]?
Introducing Elizabeth Arden ALWAYS RED. A new fragrance that celebrates the New York state of mind – boldly living out loud, making your own rules. All in. All the time. Made for the leader of the in crowd, Elizabeth Arden ALWAYS RED was inspired by the strikingly confident woman who radiates as she lights up the town.
- Top Notes – Red Plum, Blood Orange, Passion Fruit.
- Middle Notes – Jasmine Sambac, Rose Petals, Pink Freesia.
- Base Notes – Mahogany Woods, Red Amber, Praline.
Let’s talk about the packaging – how perfect is this classic red and black door? I know it’s just a glass bottle, yet I still wish I could open it and peek inside. That’s what this fragrance makes me want to do – get to know the person better. Elizabeth Arden Always Red has this intriguing aura about it, it’s a veil of mystery or a coat of armor if you like. It makes me feel confident and in control, without giving away the worries I have inside.
What makes my experience with Elizabeth Arden Always Red truly exceptional is the fact that I love all three phases: top, heart, and drydown. It opens up with an instant moodlift of sweet and fruity red plum, blood orange, and passion fruit. A couple hours later those notes subside, leading the way to the bitter-crisp floral heart of sambac jasmine, rose petals, and pink freesia. Finally, 5-6 hours after the initial application all I can smell is the relaxing traces of mahogany woods, amber, and sweet praline. It really is a fantastic bouquet, and the best one among the brands latest releases, in my opinion.
WHERE TO BUY: $50 USD for 1.7 oz. Available at Macy’s.
