SheaMoisture NEW SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Haircare Collection Review

SheaMoisture is a brand most of us are familiar with, and it used to be a tried-and-trusted companion for anyone that wanted to embrace their natural hair texture and curls. While my hair is far from being curly, it’s not straight either; I would call it… sturly? It’s a little bit wavy and has a tendency of becoming too frizzy, and I always found that products aimed towards curly hair helped me manage my mane better.

Today I wanted to share my thoughts on SheaMoisture’s new Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Hair System, that consists of four products: shampoo, conditioner, hair masque, and hair serum. For this review I received everything but the conditioner.

About the collection:

“The collection boasts a proprietary blend of certified organic Shea Butter (with rich fatty acids to deeply moisturize); SuperFruit Nutrient Complex (a blend of Red Raspberry, Ketones, Goji, Acai Guava extracts rich in anti-aging antioxidants); Marula Oil (contains natural peptides that help support hair’s elasticity); and Biotin (nurtures individual strands for thicker, stronger hair). When the whole system is used together, hair is instantly renewed, hydrated, soft, shiny and manageable.”

SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Shampoo was the first product I tried from the line. It has a mild fruity fragrance that didn’t bother my sensitive nose. I found the formula a little hard to work with, mostly because it was challenging to thoroughly spread throughout my hair. I think it might have something to do with the fact that the product contains no harsh sulfates, which is what makes shampoos foam up better. Even without the conditioner, my hair felt soft and conditioned after washing.

SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Hair Masque is described as an “intensive, antioxidant-rich treatment that repairs dull, lifeless hair in a matter of minutes.” Can’t argue with that, because this masque felt fantastic on my hair, and really made it feel soft and more manageable. It’s a great detangling treatment! I rarely can run a hand through the full length of my hair without pulling out a few strands, but after this masque I could. Personally, I think it’s the star of the collection!

And finally, SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Hair Serum is that jack-of-all-trades: it can be used as a frizz tamer, a pre-styling heat protectant, to nourish split ends, and as an overnight treatment to soften coarse and brittle hair. I think it worked best on my split ends, when I generously applied the serum and left it overnight.

By the way, these products do not contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance or artificial color. Color safe.

SheaMoisture’s SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal Collection will be available at Ulta retail locations nationwide in September/October 2014. For more information about SheaMoisture, please visit SheaMoisture.com.

THE VERDICT
While I enjoyed trying all three products, my personal favorite was definitely the masque. It works really well to detangle hair in the shower, making it look smooth, silky and more manageable.
