Yuzen Box Review: January 2013

Starting February Yuzen box is switching to a quarterly basis to maintain the quality of the boxes, a decision which I understand and respect. I will miss my monthly box of zen of course, but if that’s what it takes for them to keep the boxes stuffed with amazing products I can only support them in their decision.

This month my box is just as impressive as the previous ones, and every single product is very “me”. I’ve been kind of crabby lately so it couldn’t have come at a better time, I desperately needed some zen 🙂

About Yuzen Box:

Yuzen is a quarterly subscription service that costs $26/season. In your box you will receive a mix of eco-friendly, cruelty-free, natural and organic lifestyle and beauty products plus a sheet of authentic hand-crafted Yuzen paper (new paper every season, I thought it was a pretty cool touch). All products are either very generously deluxe-sized or full-sized. They ship USPS Priority mail so you only have to wait a couple days after receiving the shipping notification. Click here to sign up.

Acure Moroccan Argan Oil + Argan Stem Cell Moisture Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner
These shampoo and conditioner smell like almonds, and I love everything almond 🙂 My hair felt stronger and thicker after using this fragrant duo.

Aromafloria Stress Less Bubble Bath
Review will be up shortly.

Essence of Vali Sleep A Bedtime Ritual
Normally I’m not a fan of lavender but after using just one drop of this essence I had a very peaceful night. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence or it really worked, but I’ll try it again and see if this effect is consistent.
You can also request a free sample of their bestseller fragrance EOV Eau de Parfum by filling out the form on this page, and don’t forget to mention that you heard about them from Glamorable 🙂

PANGEA ORGANICS Italian Red Mandarin with Rose Discovery Cream
I like Pangea Organics products but I have never used this particular moisturizer. I normally use products for combination skin, but this winter my face threw a major fit so I had to adjust my routine to include products for sensitive skin. This moisturizer is pretty light for a dry skin product and my skin feels so good after using it, this formula is definitely the best for my current condition. I used a few drops of 100% argan oil underneath as a serum for added moisture. As a nice bonus it tightened my skin a little bit so I guess it provides a lifting effect as well.

SHEA TERRA ORGANICS Moroccan Argan Oil
I guess January is the month of Argan oils since I just got the Josie Maran one in my Ipsy bag 🙂 And I don’t mind at all because it’s an amazing and very versatile product that can be used as a serum, moisturizer, cuticle oil, hair treatment and added to your favorite skincare for extra benefits. I used it as a serum under the previously mentioned moisturizer and that worked quite well.

TILVEE Lavender & Lemon Hydrating Lip Balm in Lavender Lemon
I have about two dozen unopened lip balms so it will be a while until I get to this one. It’s one of the bigger sized balms, like those big Badger balms if you know what I’m talking about. These balms are filled with only the best natural and organic ingredients and don’t contain parabens, synthetics, artificial fragrances and petroleum by-products.

SWEET RIOT Cacao Nibs
Yum! These little nibs are truly delicious, and at 1 calorie per “nib” they’re pretty diet-friendly as well. These tiny chocolates are packing some serious flavor and I’ll be back for more for sure! The tins are conveniently purse-sized so I could put them in each one of my purses for a quick and guiltless snack anytime I want 🙂

You take awesome pictures! I wish I had your style… I’m sad that Yuzen’s changing to quarterly too, but it will give me a better chance to use the products we’ve been getting. I don’t think there’s a single non-food item that I’ve finished off yet.

Thank you Mary! I’m also kind of sour and sweet about it for the same reasons, it’s just greed in me speaking. I will definitely miss the quality of these carefully curated boxes but I agree that I need to use up a lot of products still.
