Wishtrend WISH Box Unboxing and Review: Summer Box 2 (No.13)

Every subscription box fanatic comes to a burnout stage at some point, when they feel like they’ve tried just about any type of box out there and everything just seems so boring and repetitive. I have been in that situation at least 3 times in the past year, and I just might have found a temporary solution.

Now, according to my husband, his ideal solution would be to just cancel the subscriptions I’m bored with and save some money, but you and I both know that’s not acceptable! 🙂 I discovered that some international beauty boxes ship overseas, and decided to try one just for fun and see how it goes. I figured that a major online retailer is a fairly safe bet, and their boxes are one-off purchases that don’t require a subscription. Besides, I’ve heard so many good things about Korean cosmetics, but the only brand I tried was Missha, which is a low-end drugstore brand in Korea [like, Wet’n’Wild level]. Now, if their low-end products are as good as Missha, then I can only imagine what the mid-range and high-end are like!

HOW IT WORKS
Wishtrend is a big online retailer of Korean cosmetics, which ships internationally. Once a month Wishtrend releases a themed WISH Box filled with samples and full-sized Korean beauty products at a highly discounted price. Prices for each box will vary from month to month, and the shipping depends on your location. I highly recommend that you create an account to receive free shipping on your first order, that will save you at least $12.

The box I’m reviewing today actually sold out before I even got it in the mail. Don’t panic, though, apparently these boxes don’t sell out super fast, since the next released box #14 is still on the site even though it’s been over a month since I bought it. The shipping is ridiculously slow, which is to be expected since the boxes come from Korea and I always pay for the cheapest option. Both of my WISH boxes came together, and Wishtrend threw in a few foil samples of various BB creams for me to try.

Now that you know a little bit about the company, let’s see what I actually got in the Summer Box 2!

O.S.T. Refining Teatree Mist – Tea tree products work wonders when my combination skin decides it’s time to break out, and so far my all-time staple toner was the Tea Tree Water from LUSH. OST toner actually gives my skin the same feeling of clean comfort along with a slight cooling sensation, which would be perfect for summer.

Klairs Gentle Moist Aloe Gel – Nothing revolutionary here, just a good quality aloe vera soothing gel. This one sinks in without leaving any residue, so the skin will feel matte and non-sticky. I loved layering it with body butters for a double moisturizing effect. At the time of this review, the gel is on clearance, but when I purchased the bundle it was still listed at full price.

SKIN&LAB Dr.Vita Clinic Fre-C Sun Protector SPF 50+ – Koreans love their pearlescent complexions and protect themselves from the sun 24 hours a day, so leave it to them to develop great non-greasy moisturizers with the highest SPF imaginable. Currently SPF 50 is the highest clinically approved SPF level in EU and the Eastern part of the world. This physical sunblock features a new and improved formula that provides skin whitening properties and effective protection from the sun. My only complaint is Retinyl Palmitate on the ingredient list, that one really doesn’t like the sun, and break down to a bunch of free radicals soon after UV exposure.

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Mask – I looove sheet masks, and these simple moisturizing treasures from Klairs are so cheap! Wishtrend offers a great deal on them – buy 10 get 3 free; buy 20 get 10 free; buy 30 get 15 free! I didn’t know what to expect, so I ordered the first option, now I kind of wish I went for the biggest bundle. According to Klairs, each mask contains half a bottle of moisturizing essence, and the sheet itself is made of 100% pure cotton.

LYRAMOA Water Drop Mineral Powder – This powder was a real discovery; in the jar it looks like your average powder, but once I put it on it felt very moist, almost wet! It gives my skin a very matte finish and sets makeup in place like no other. I think this powder only comes in one color, which is perfect for pasties like me 🙂

THE VERDICT
I loved this box for the novelty and the excitement of discovering brands I would have never thought of buying otherwise. I also think it’s pretty neat to be able to sample tried-and-true products that Korean girls use on a daily basis. My favorite item in this bundle was the tea tree toner, with the sheet masks being a very close second.

What did you think of this box? Do you know of any other exotic beauty boxes that ship internationally?

I’ve been wanting to try a Wish Trend box, but I’m looking for more makeup than skincare items.

I agree with you, I hope one day they release a makeup themed box. Trying Korean cosmetics would be so much fun!
