Wantable Box Review: Winter 2012

I was really lucky to win the most recent contest on MakeupTalk forums sponsored by Wantable.co. They were choosing 14 winners total and our prize was any Wantable box of our choice from the winter selection. Although my style profile came up as “Boho Babe” I chose a nude-neutral Cinnamon Cognac set from Classic Chic profile. I’m one of those boring people who think they can never have enough neutrals!

Since the contest they’ve changed their service to also include a monthly subscription. You select the types of products that you would like to receive and choose either a one-time payment of $40 or a monthly subscription type that costs $36/month.

About Wantable:
Wantable is a unique new subscription service, that offers 6 full size products valued at over $100 for $40 per box, with brands like Mia Bellezza, Color Club, Beauty for Real, Paula Dorf and more and they are ALL makeup! You can choose to subscribe for $36/month or buy as often as you like for $40/box without any obligations.

Color Club Polishes in Earthy Angel from Back to Boho-2011 Fall Collection and Style Icon from In True Fashion-2012 Fall Collection
I actually couldn’t open the polishes… It’s like the caps on both of them are glued to the bottles or something! Based on my previous experiences with Color Club polishes, they are either streaky or chip too easily but I heard their glitters are pretty good. Either way, I will keep trying to open these bottles and post swatches when I can.
Update: First swatch is up! I managed to open both polishes but so far used only one of them – Style Icon. Unlike what I expected it didn’t streak and provided really nice application. I only needed two very thin coats to reach full opacity.

MiA BelleZZa Mineral Blush in Captive Glow
This blush felt nice on my skin and the shade is very flattering. The color is kind of a rosy peach with slight golden shimmer. I really can’t think of anything else to say about it, I feel like I’ll be using it for while.

MyFace Cosmetics Lip Pop Gloss in Hot in Here and High Def Lip Pencil in Beige
I almost never use lip pencils so this was a nice thing to try. I liked the creamy matte formula of this particular one, it’s kind of soft-looking so it doesn’t outline the lips to the point where they look fake and too “made up” if you know what I mean. The gloss was pretty good too, it’s more runny than the rest of the glosses I own but super pigmented, so a little product on the tip went a long way.

MiA BelleZZa Mineral Shadow Duo in Moca
This eyeshadow duo is what essentially made me pick this box in the first place. Gorgeous fall colors that would compliment most skin tones, who wouldn’t love that? Both colors are super pigmented, especially the darker one, and I was able to create a nice semi-smoky blended out cat-eye look using only this duo and Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter sample I received from Birchbox.

Last but not the least, a little extra they included with the kit – Kai Fragrance perfume oil

I really liked this perfume! I read some reviews online that many girls thought it was too floral for them, well for me no floral is too floral because I’m a total girly girl 🙂 I put a small dab of this perfume oil on my wrists and behind my ears, and it stayed with me all day.
