I wrote about UrthBox a couple months ago, and practically gushed about the value of this snacking subscription service! Most food subscriptions don’t offer a very good value for the money, and this is one of the few exceptions. I received the Mini Vegan July 2015 Box to try, but at the time my editorial calendar was completely full with time-sensitive content and other obligations, so I couldn’t squeeze in a review. Finally, the schedule cleared up a little, so today I wanted to show you what subscribers received in this box last month.
HOW IT WORKS: Urthbox is a subscription service that delivers a mystery box filled with yummy Organic & Non-GMO snacks and drinks at your doorstep once a month. There are four tiers available – Mini box as low as $12.99/month [6+ products], Small box as low as $19.99/month [12+ products], Medium box as low as $29.99/month [17+ products], and Large box as low as $39.99/month [24+ products]. Shipping is free within the US, or $6 extra for International shipping. Click here to check it out.

I really felt like having some pop corn when the box came, so the first snack I reached for was Spiced & Infused Popcorn in Bombay Seasoning. It’s a fun take on Indian cuisine, with mildly spicy flavors, and lots of crunch. If you like Indian food, you will definitely like this one!
There was another corn snack in the box – Nourish Snacks Chili’n in the Corn’r. Can I just say, I love how Corn’y that name is? I like companies with sense of humor 🙂 This corn was a bit spicier than I normally prefer, but I ended up finishing the whole thing in three days anyway. I think Nourish Snacks nailed the sweet chili flavor here – it was robust, bright, and very fragrant.
Matt’s Munchies Banana Coconut was perhaps my favorite snack in this box! In a nutshell, it looks like fruit leather squares made of coconut and banana paste plastered over a sheet of non-stick parchment paper. Each square was absolutely delicious and sooo satisfying! I ate the whole thing in one sitting, but I could have split it in 4-5 servings easily if I had more self-control.
I tried LAIKI Red Rice Crackers before, and they taste like any other rice crackers to me. They were light, crispy, and had that classic ricey aftertaste. Not my favorite, but I don’t hate them; I think I would’ve liked them better with a dip though.
I actually gave PaleoLife Primal Cocoa-Nut Meal Bar to my husband, because sometimes he is too busy to have proper lunch at work, and a few days ago he finally ate it. He said it was good, and that came from a guy who hates meal bars and protein bars!
RuckPack Combat Nutrition was the last sample in my mini box, and I got the “Strawberry Assault” flavor. Not sure if there were any other varieties sent, but I thought this one was a bit too sweet for my liking. It did give me a boost of energy on a groggy day, and I managed to work out, do some blogging, and even clean when I definitely didn’t feel like it. By the way, this particular energy drink was actually developed by US Marine Corps and tested on the members of Special Ops. This thing is no joke!
THE VERDICT: The box was well-rounded, and stuffed with some really nice snacks, even though a couple of them weren’t really my thing. There were two major highlights here: the banana-coconut leather squares and Bombay popcorn, both of which I devoured quicker than I care to admit.
Note: I read some concerning complaints about UrthBox CS being unresponsive at times, and the difficulty to cancel this subscription. While I never had a negative experience with them, I still want to make sure everyone is aware that these issues exist. I still think this is one of the best snack subscriptions out there and actually offers good value for the money, so I recommend using a prepaid debit card to pay for it if you want to avoid potential problems.
