You guys know that I don’t post makeup tutorials very often, but I try to do it at least once a season. For this story I was inspired by Sally Beauty Summer Trends and decided to feature this easy beachy look, complete with effortless windswept waves that are oh-so-easy to create given the right tools and products.
Sally Beauty carries a wide range of nail polish and nail art supplies, body care products, hair styling tools and accessories, color cosmetics, and just about anything else you might need to create a desired look, no matter how complicated. It took me a while to pick products to try, and I ended up leaving with more goodies than I originally planned to buy. Beauty blogger problems, am I right? 🙂
Here’s the full list of the products I picked up to use in today’s tutorial:
- Palladio Silk Fix All-In-One Herbal Eyeshadow Palette
- Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color in Jacquard
- Real Colors Stay Glowing Long-Wear Bronzer in Malibu Glow
- Real Colors Stay Glowing Long-Wear Highlighter
- Femme Couture Eternal Color Self-Adjusting Blush in Flirty Coral
- ion Volume Builder Spray
- Sebastian Professional Shaper Plus Hairspray
Beachy look can be quickly summed up as effortless surfer chic. Think bronzed skin with slight dewy sheen, slightly coral wind-kissed cheeks, and waves tousled by salty water and fresh breeze. To further accentuate those features, all you need is a shimmery brown smokey eye to match the caramel complexion and a bright lipstick to tie everything together.
TUTORIAL:
1 // Prime the skin and apply your base of choice. I opted in for a natural-looking BB cream because it allows my skin to breathe even in humid temperatures.
2 // Groom the eyebrows using your brow product of choice. I lightly filled mine in with a dark brown pencil and brushed the hairs to make them look neat and tidy and blend out the color strokes.
3 // Palladio Silk Fix All-In-One Herbal Eyeshadow Palette conveniently marked the pans by function: highlighter, all-over base, crease, lid, and liner. Those are some great pointers for beginners! I applied the lightest shade to the crease in wide strokes, then went over that same area with the taupe shade to blend the colors together nicely. Using my finger I dabbed on the shimmery bronze color along the top and bottom lids, and lined the eyes with the dark shade in the corner pan.
4 // Surfer chic is not complete without 2-3 coats of waterproof mascara! 😉
5 // Using a medium kabuki brush, dust the hollows of your cheeks, chin, and areas along the hairline with bronzer to give warmth to the skin and make your contours more defined. I used Real Colors Stay Glowing Long-Wear Bronzer in Malibu Glow.
6 // Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. I used Femme Couture Eternal Color Self-Adjusting Blush in Flirty Coral.
7 // Lightly add some shimmer to the cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and eyebrow bone with a soft, pointed highlighter brush or a fan brush. I used Real Colors Stay Glowing Long-Wear Highlighter.
8 // Since I have fine spray I always have to use a volumizer, so I spray some to my roots to life them up, making my hair look fuller. I used ion Volume Builder Spray.
9 // Spray your hands with strong hold hairspray and scrunch your hair to form messy waves. That’s the look we’re going for! I used Sebastian Professional Shaper Plus Hairspray.
10 // Apply your favorite coral lipstick to tie the look together. I used Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color in Jacquard.
P.S.: I have NO idea why my ear looks orange there! 🙂
