Starlooks Starbox Review: February 2013

I’ve been keeping an eye on this subscription for the past few months and after confirming that they consistently send out great boxes I decided to finally become a subscriber. I’m in the process of getting rid of some old makeup right now so I was looking forward to a good value makeup subscription to save some money and stock up on some new products.

This month Starlooks collaborated with Lauren Clark, a professional MUA who worked with Betsey Johnson, Seventeen Magazine, ESPN, FOX News etc. All products in our February boxes were personally selected by Lauren and she even included a couple of face charts to help create looks using our new goodies.

About Starbox:
Starbox is a makeup subscription from Starlooks Cosmetics. Each Starbox includes 3-4 FULL SIZE makeup/beauty products delivered to your door for $15/month. The value of your box will always be much higher.

Infinity Pot Liner in Princess Diaries
So this is actually an eye liner but I plan on using it mostly as an eyeshadow because this color looks amazing when applied to the entire lid. I wore this look for the whole day without any primer and didn’t notice any creasing, flaking or fading at all. Best part?

A compliment from my husband who usually doesn’t care what makeup I’m wearing 🙂

Fluid Blush in Barbie
This blush is VERY pigmented, and if I didn’t swatch it on the back of my hand first I would have definitely applied too much. A little goes a very long way and I needed an extremely tiny amount to add enough rosy color to my cheeks without looking like a clown. This shade – Barbie – is very fresh and totally appropriate for the spring season. I think it will be my go-to cheek color for the upcoming few months!

Update: I just added these two new swatches. Here’s the blush worn on the lips (top) and under the lip gloss (bottom). Enjoy!

Lip Gloss in Pink Oasis
Despite being loaded with glitter flecks, the texture of this lip gloss is surprisingly non-gritty. The color is very sheer, so you won’t get literally lilac lips after the application.

Lip liner in Tipsy
The lip pencil was very soft and easy to apply, it glided on effortlessly and provided with enough pigment to fill even the tiniest creases with color. Starlooks likes to compare their products with high end brands and this pencil definitely compares to and event exceeds some of the luxe lip pencils.

Random cute bonus: a little quartz crystal!

To sum it up, here are the swatches of everything in the box:

  1. Infinity Pot Liner in Princess Diaries (used as an eye shadow)
  2. Fluid Blush in Barbie
  3. Lip Gloss in Pink Oasis
  4. Lip liner in Tipsy
  5. Lip gloss in Pink Oasis over Lip Liner in Tipsy
And here are the products I liked the most and the least (it was a very tough call to make because everything is amazing!):

  • The best: My favorite is probably the pink Infinity Pot Liner because it’s so versatile, I can use it as a highlighter, blush, lip stain, eye shadow or eyeliner. So many choices!
  • The worst: Oh gosh this is an impossible call to make because I really liked everything. The product I loved the least is probably the lip gloss but not because it’s bad or anything. It’s an amazing product with a wonderful formula but it’s not as versatile as other products in the box.

The verdict: Starbox products pack a serious punch of quality that can stand up even to the fanciest luxe brands out there. The formulas and the colors are amazing and I plan to stick around the a few more months at the very least.
