Hammock Pack Review: February 2013

Here is the review of my first Hammock Pack box. I decided to purchase one box after so many people recommended it to me as one of the most “fun” boxes out there. I usually prefer going for the high retail value boxes after being spoiled by my numerous beauty subs so I wanted to try something different this time.

This month’s theme is “Movie Night”.

About Hammock Pack:
Every month, you’ll receive a surprise pack filled with everything you need to take a much-needed getaway without leaving your home, whether it’s as simple as a movie night or mementos from that exotic vacation you can’t find the time to take. The subscription costs $25/box + S&H, there is currently no discount for a long-term commitment and no referral program.

Quinn Popcorn Vermont Maple & Sea Salt
The popcorn was very tasty and even the individual baggies looked fancy. I liked the idea of mixing in the organic canola oil and the mixture of spices after popping the popcorn, that ensured that the whole thing was as fresh as it can possibly be. My husband and I enjoyed it quite a bit while watching a movie this weekend and both of us aren’t huge popcorn lovers at all. The maple and sea salt flavor was unexpectedly good!

Pure Palette Cinnamon Vanilla Tea Light Pak
I’m one of those people who like getting candles in their subscription boxes, as presents or just plain buy for myself. These tiny candles smell delightful and I can’t wait to start burning them.

Oh La La 25 Mint Lovely Striped Paper Straws
These are super cute paper straws but I’m going to wait until late spring or summer to start using them so they look appropriate with the bright table setting.

Whimsical Candy La-dee-dahs
There are three individually wrapped candies in the package and they are very yummy. The caramel swirl was the best part because I’m a big caramel lover! Each candy is big enough to satisfy even the strongest sweet craving, in fact I had to slice mine in half because it almost seemed like the whole candy would be too much. This was my favorite thing in the box!

Komforte Chockolates Movie Night Bar
I had some choco-cravings last night and munched down the whole thing. I loved the chocolate itself but hated the unpopped popcorn in it, because some of them were too hard to chew. I would be totally ok with them if only they were smaller. So in the end I had to pick them out and eat the chocolate without them.

  • The best: Whimsical Candy was very yummy, I wish I had more 🙂
  • The worst: I don’t think there was any single bad item in the box but if I had to pick my least favorite it would probably be the Komfortes chocolate bar because I had to pick out the unpopped popcorn which was too hard on my teeth.

The verdict: This was my first Hammock Pack and my first impression is mostly positive. I’m not too sure if I will ever purchase another one, but I like the promise of the “monthly getaway” theme. They’re certainly good about sticking to a certain topic 🙂
