If you have fine flat hair that gets dirty easily, it can be a daunting task sometimes to figure out how to style it on the second day without too much effort. There are hundreds of tips, tricks, and techniques on the Internet to help make it look like a salon blowout, but most of us would rather spend the morning doing something else, right?
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been testing a few CHI products from the new extended line, and while all of them performed really well for certain tasks, I ended up incorporating some of them into my everyday routine.
CHI Line Extension includes seven new products:
- Dry Shampoo
- Dry Conditioner
- Texturizing Spray
- Spray Wax
- Reworkable Taffy
- Styling Cream Gel
- Finishing Pomade
I used to dry my hair with heat tools a lot until this Summer when I switched to air-drying. Not only does my hair have some healthy shine to it now, I think it also looks bouncier and fuller than before! All those hair supplements I’ve been taking might be helping, too, but I’ll tell you about them a bit later because I’m not done with the course yet.
Anyhow, on the first day right after washing I let my locks air dry and twist them up in a bun when they’re still slightly damp. In a few hours I untwist it to reveal natural-looking almost beachy waves. From there on I either use a Texturizing Spray or a Spray Wax, depending on the look I’m trying to create. For instance, Texturizing Spray is good for creating salty tousled waves, while Spray Wax gives me sleeker Old Hollywood style soft curls.
Second day styles are where trouble usually lies for me, because when the hair is fine, flat, and frizzy it tends to look even worse when I attempt to transform it into something more socially appropriate. Normally I would either throw it up in a bun or a high ponytail and call it a day, but these new goodies from CHI give me a few more options.
I’ve always liked the look of my hair when it’s sleek and flat-ironed! Instead of hiding it in a bun, I’ve been using CHI Ultra Tropical Splash Straightening Iron to give it that ultra-glossy look. And can we just admire the lovely floral print for a second? With a little Dry Shampoo at the roots and a few spritzes of Dry Conditioner on the ends, my second day hair doesn’t seem bad at all!
And by the way, my husband took a special liking to Reworkable Taffy. It’s super easy to use even for no-fuss guys, and helps hair stay in place all day. Hubs doesn’t like it when his sideswept bangs move around too much, and he was very happy with the way this one performed.
