Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and whether you celebrate it or not, it as good a reason as any to go an extra mile with your makeup. What’s the easiest way to add some extra oomph to your look? A bright pop of lipstick, of course! Recently LAQA & Co released several new shades of their famous Fat Lip Pencils, and they are fa-bu-lous!
The new colors are: Palate Cleanser, Shambolic, Doppelganger, Jammy Bastard, and Toots; and I was sent the first four. As always, the outer boxes feature works of young artists [the packaging for all five new shades was designed by Elena Kulikova], and they earn a percentage of proceeds from each Fat Lip Pencil sold.
Palate Cleanser is described as a neutral rich blood red. It provides beautiful opaque coverage and a hint of glossy sheen, but not too much. If you are looking for something between classic and vampy, this is it.
Shambolic is a cool violet pink, that is basically a slightly subdued and less shiny Winter version of my favorite Menatour Lip Lube. Thinking that purple lip is not for you? You’d be surprised! My Mom is in her 50s and her style is by no means eccentric, and she adores her Menatour. It shows up pinkish lilac on her lips and works so well with blush and rose-colored clothes & accessories.
Doppelganger is a warm peony pink that will look fabulous day or night. I can see myself wearing it regardless of the season or occasion, because it brightens up my complexion and makes me look instantly put together. Love love love it!
Jammy Bastard is a warm “winter coral”, as LAQA describes calls it. I can see what they mean by that, because despite the fact that coral shades look best when it’s sunny outside, this one is definitely subdued and even wanders into slightly grayish poppy territory. It will look beautiful with metallic eye makeup!
All four of these lip pencils are very convenient to use thanks to the twist-up packaging that does not require a sharpener. The formula is creamy and very pigmented, and each color leaves a slight stain on the lips, which makes you need less touchups.
And here’s my Valentine’s Day look! What do you think? I’m sporting Doppelganger on my lips, and plan to wear it for the date, too 🙂

LOVE these shades. I would totally rock Jammy Bastard. I also love how LAQA & Co supports different arts by letting them design the art on the boxes. I think that’s such a neat idea.
They are totally gorgeous, all four of them! Jammy Bastard is really a unique color, isn’t it? I rarely see anyone wear this shade, and it’s so beautiful.
Lovely!
Thanks, Mom! 🙂
