Celebrity Makeup Look With Black|Up Cosmetics

Did any of you watch this year’s Grammy Awards? I usually just stalk the red carpet part, and as always, there were plenty of cool outfits to swoon over. A couple days ago while playing with my Black|Up Cosmetics goodies I decided to pretend that I’m going to the Grammys, too, and created a celebrity-inspired makeup look that would fit right in with the rest of those beauties.

Many of these products are not for the faint-hearted – a Black|Up girl is not afraid to experiment with bold colors that make her stand out from the crowd.

As with any work of art, a beautiful painting requires a good canvas, so I dotted Mattifying Fluid Foundation 01 along my hair line, cheekbones, nose, and jaw to create a defined contour. I would have loved to use it on my entire face, but unfortunately none of the complexion products I was sent are suitable for my skin tone. To be fair, I find it extremely hard to find an exact match, because I have some weird neutral undertones that keep shifting from warm to cool depending on the season, so the same foundation that I wear right now might be too pink or too yellow in a few months. Talk about #firstworldproblems, am I right?

To cover my brownish acne scars I used the yellow pan in Concealer Palette 01 to neutralize the pigment, and the pinkish beige pan [right across] was perfect to even out the blueish undereye circles. Remember ladies: don’t use yellow concealer on blue dark circles, otherwise it will make the area look gray, and cause the exact opposite effect than what we’re trying to accomplish here.

To define and highlight my contoured cheeks, I lightly swiped Blush 09 over the whole area. It’s not a color I would use often, but it works really well for bolder looks that require all of the attention focused on one area, in this case – on the eyes.

I kept my lips neutral as well, but still glossy and sultry with help of Lip Lacquer 08. Its highly pigmented formula looks like lip gloss but has the staying power of a lipstick.

And finally, for my eyes I used the skin-toned eye shadow pan from Eyeshadow Palette 02 as a base, matte brown shade next to it in the crease, and lined bottom lids with the shimmery gold in the middle top row. Those mattes are beyond gorgeous, aren’t they? I wore this look all day, and didn’t experience any fading, fallout, or creasing. Very impressive performance!

Black|Up Cosmetics was created in 1999 to fill the void created by cosmetic companies that did not offer enough makeup options for WOC. Now their products are adored by MUAs and consumers worldwide for premium quality formulas that meet the highest of standards in the beauty industry. After trying everything, I realized that it’s incredibly hard to pick a favorite, although I definitely recommend their lipsticks, and Mattifying Fluid Foundation – those are the bomb!

I also received Waterproof Smoky Kohl Pencil 05 and two Mono Eyeshadows that I really wanted to incorporate into this look, but instead I decided to feature them on Instagram, so check back in a few days to see them in all their glory, along with other pretties that didn’t make it on my face today. I want to start doing more microblogging and create Instagram exclusive content; make sure to follow me there if you aren’t already.
