How To Repair Sun-Damaged Hair

pr sample

Do you protect your hair from the sun by using shampoo, conditioner, and styling products with SPF? How about wearing a cap when you swim in the pool or in the ocean? That’s okay, most of us don’t, but we all end up paying for careless summer fun with dry and brittle hair. But before you decide to go to the salon to chop off those dry parts, how about trying to re-hydrate them first? A good trim is a necessity regardless, but with this new product I recently discovered – Minardi Fortifying Pre-Wash Therapy – you may be able to cut less and keep your length, while sporting a seriously glorious mane!

This luxurious cream-oil comes in a large squeeze tube [I’m holding it in my hand for comparison] that firmly stands on the cap without tipping, so it won’t flip over every time it’s used in the shower, whether you put it on the side of your bathtub, or use a caddy. While the tube itself is quite standard, I found myself admiring the aesthetics of its minimalistic design – the combination of all caps and all-lowercase Itallic fonts [if you ever create Pinterest-optimized images with captions this trick really makes the photo stand out]. I’m quite fond of the colors, too – how often do companies use light gray and lime green? I know all this info is probably totally irrelevant, but I just wanted to mention it, since I really like the design 🙂

While I didn’t notice it at first, Minardi Fortifying Pre-Wash Therapy does have a scent, too – the notes of lavender and amber weren’t obvious right away, but blossomed after I washed off the treatment. I think if I paired this treatment with lavender-scented shampoo & conditioner it would be the best kind of combo to use before bed!

More at https://glamorable.com | via @glamorableTo fully saturate my long fine hair with this cream-oil I needed a walnut-sized dollop. Since I try to keep my roots free from product buildup, I only applied Minardi Fortifying Pre-Wash Therapy on the ends about halfway up, just to cover the damaged areas. After combing it through, I put my hair up in a bun and went on about my day, and left the solution sitting on my locks for a few hours.

Minardi claims this “homogenous broth of fatty acids, proteins, lipids and water rebuilds hair with what it’s made out of”, and while nothing can truly rebuild your hair, except for the hair follicle itself, you can at least have salon-quality ‘do until your next wash with this luxurious treatment.

Yep, give me scented hair care – in scents I love! I use Cocoa Pink, which lets me customize my scents. My current shampoo and conditioner is Hawaiian Cake.

This sounds wonderful. My hair soaks up the sun consistently and I have tried so many things to protect from the sun… all those days in the ocean as a kid hasn’t helped much.

    • August 26, 2015 / 9:19 am

I know, right? I don’t think we should sacrifice fun in the sun for the sake of having pretty hair. Luckily. there are treatments like this one to minimize the damage.

I never thought of using a pre-wash. That sounds like a cool concept! Part of me thinks it’s just a good marketing idea, but I honestly think it could be really good for summer. Especially if you go to the beach or are in the sun often.

    • August 26, 2015 / 9:24 am

This is actually the second pre-wash treatment I tried, and I forgot all about the first one. Do you remember From The Lab subscription service? They sent a pre-wash in their second or third box, and to be honest I wasn’t a huge fan back then. This one is lighter and doesn’t stick to my hair like the one from FTL. I like the concept, too, but I wonder is using a normal hair masque as a pre-wash would yield the same results.
