March Favorites: Bath & Body
To continue our previous conversation, in today’s blog post I will be covering my March bath & body favorites. I would have loved to include these in the previous post, but it already got too wordy and no one’s got time for that. Compared to skincare, I don’t have nearly as many products to share here. I’m just not very fussy when it comes to basics like haircare or body lotions. There are a lot of great products on the market, so it’s rare that I feel like something truly stands out. Still, I tend to discover these rare gems once in a while and they usually become staples in my routine. In March, these four stood out among the rest.
1 // SHAMPOO – Löwengrip Blonde Perfection Silver Shampoo* ($28). Whether you are a natural or a bleached blonde, you probably know that purple shampoo is your best friend. I’ve been trying different brands since I got my balyage, and Löwengrip Blonde Perfection stood out to me for its ability to neutralize yellow tones after only 1 wash and giving the highlighted strands iridescent, silvery glow after just two. I normally only get these kinds of results when I use a special purple masque, so having a shampoo that does the exact same thing and just as quickly is a welcome surprise. Shampoos are generally cheaper than masques, too. The shampoo is concentrated so you don’t need to use a lot to maintain salon-perfect color.
2 // CONDITIONER – Shea Moisture Argan Oil & Almond Milk Smooth & Tame Conditioner ($11.99). The entire family of Sundial Brands consistently delivers superior products with budget-friendly prices, but Shea Moisture is probably my favorite line. I love the delicious scents of these shampoos and conditioners, and they’re made with healthy, natural ingredients, too. This conditioner, for example, doubles as a deep conditioning treatment, and sometimes I even use a tiny amount instead of my usual leave-in product to soften and smooth my hair after it was already styled. Works just as well, and it’s all from the same bottle! P.S.: My tube has an orange sticker but I also saw these sold in blue & white packaging. Not sure which one is newer, but they’re the same product.
3 // BODY WASH – dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash* ($44) – You guys know me as the Molton Brown girl because their body washes are still the best in my book, but something about this one from dermalogica struck a chord with me. It has a very prominent lavender-rosemary fragrance that smells like something out of my childhood, so I keep reaching for it instead of my Moltons lately. It comes in a huge salon-sized jug and I bet it will last me a long time.
4 // BODY LOTION – dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream* ($48) – This lotion has the same lavender fragrance as the body wash, but I also like the way it feels. Since I have acne-prone skin, I am not a huge fan of oily and greasy body lotions that could potentially cause breakouts. This lotion is more on a runny side and the texture makes it easy to spread a small amount over fairly large areas to avoid any kind of sticky residue. I still don’t use it for the daytime because the fragrance will clash with my perfume, but at night this body lotion is my go-to.
