Luzern Nuit Collection Review
You probably already know that most of the skin repair happens when we sleep, and that’s when we should use our strongest and most potent products. It is also the perfect time to treat our skin to richer, more nourishing formulations that would otherwise be too heavy for the daytime, so you can reap the benefits overnight and simply wash off the excess in the morning. That is why I always appreciate a well-curated skincare line specifically targeted for overnight use, and today I wanted to introduce you all to one of my latest discoveries – LUZERN Nuit Collection.
Luzern is a niche non-toxic luxury cosmeceutical brand, so many of you may not be familiar with it yet. The company takes pride in their clean formulations that combine the benefits of sustainably sourced, Bio-Suisse certified organic Alpine botanicals and the latest cosmetic research to create products free of harmful chemicals, unnecessary additives, and potential irritants.
Here is the full list of ingredients that Luzern banned from their formulations:
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Benzoyl Peroxide
- Sulfates
- Propylene Glycol/PEGs
- TEA/DEA/MEA
- Mineral Oils / Petrolatum
- Denatured Alcohol
- Synthetic Colors, Dyes, and Fragrances
- Formaldehyde/Formaldehyde Releasing Ingredients
- Triclosan
- Hydroquinone
- Chemical Sunscreens
Luzern Nuit Collection includes six products that maximize the beauty benefits of sleep. I tried four that are best suited for my skin type – combination/dehydrated, with first signs of aging and mild hyperpigmentation.
Luzern Nuit Hydra Cleansing Emulsion ($135) is a cleansing, nourishing and hydrating balm that comes with a little spatula scoop and a soft cleansing mitt. The formula features Swiss alpine extracts and a blend of 6 nourishing oils to decongest and de-stress the skin without disrupting the protective acid mantle. It also has aromatherapeutic properties, so you can enjoy expertly blended subtle natural aroma every time you use the balm.
I really enjoyed this one! I applied a pea-sized amount to dry skin with dry hands and spread it in circular motions to dissolve makeup and lift impurities. The mitt makes it very easy to remove the balm thoroughly without stripping the skin of moisture, and also provides a gentle massage. Although this balm washes off clean, I still wouldn’t recommend it for people with very oily skin because it contains Beeswax and Olive Oil rich in Oleic Acid, which could potentially congest your pores if your skin is already producing too much oil on its own.
You will LOVE it if:
- You have dry, normal, combination, or sensitive skin type.
- You prefer skincare made with natural ingredients.
- You like to support cruelty-free brands.
- You avoid synthetic fragrances in cosmetics.
- You prefer paraben-free formulas.
- You support companies that get their ingredients from sustainable and fair trade sources.
- You care about the environment and it’s important to you that the packaging was made with eco-friendly and recyclable materials.
- You enjoy aromatherapy blends and don’t mind essential oils in skincare.
You will HATE it if:
- You have oily skin type.
- You only use foaming cleansers.
- You only use vegan products [contains beeswax].
- You’re on a budget. Luzern is a luxury brand and their products are priced accordingly.
- You prefer fragrance-free skincare. Although the fragrance is natural and subtle you just can’t miss it.
- You avoid jar packaging.
- You are sensitive to any of the ingredients.
Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Oil, Sucrose Stearate, Sucrose Palmitate, Sucrose Laurate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Primula Veris Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Natural Fragrance, Methylpropanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Water (Aqua), Achillea Millefolium Extract.
Luzern Nuit Retinol Creme Luxe ($265) – is a rich, very nourishing overnight moisturizer that contains potent anti-aging ingredients. This is a very strong treatment that I would only recommend to experienced retinol users because it contains 0.15% of pure retinol [enhanced with 0.5% of pure Bakuchiol], which can feel drying at first if you are not used to it. It is a cream I can definitely see results with because retinol is still one of the most effective, clinically-proven anti-aging ingredients that produce the most dramatic results. Luzern hit the nail on the head with the supporting ingredients too. We have two molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid for better water retention, brightening Vitamin C, nourishing patented lipid complex, growth factor peptides, and loads of antioxidant-rich organic Alpine botanicals. Simply exquisite!
My skin is used to weaker retinoids, so I am currently only able to use this cream twice a week at the most, but I am in love with the results already. My skin definitely feels smoother and looks firmer too, and I only started using it a few weeks ago! At $265 per jar, you’d expect the product to do the work of multiple, and this one definitely does.
You will LOVE it if:
- You have a dry, normal, combination, or oily skin type with signs of aging.
- You don’t mind essential oils in skincare.
You will HATE it if:
- You have a sensitive skin type.
- You are not looking for anti-aging solutions right now.
- You are not accustomed to pure retinol.
- You consider retinol a toxic or irritating ingredient [some people do].
- You’re on a budget. Luzern is a luxury brand and their products are priced accordingly.
- You avoid essential oils in skincare.
- You avoid jar packaging.
- You are sensitive to any of the ingredients.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Propanediol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Jojoba/Macadamia Seed Oil Esters, Stearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Caprylate, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Squalene, Cetearyl Glucoside, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, C14-22 Alcohols, Phytosterols, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Primula Veris Extract, Caprooyl Tetrapeptide-3, Bakuchiol, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Callus Culture Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Veronica Officinalis Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Bisabolol, Retinol, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Dextran, Xanthan Gum, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Citric Acid, Limonene, Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Phospholipids.
Luzern Nuit Hydra Enzyme Masque ($125) – This hydrating and exfoliating mask can be used as a wash-off treatment or overnight, depending on your skin sensitivity. The formula features three main actives: Pumpkin Enzymes that actively resurface the skin and help loosen the “glue” that holds dead cells together; Hyaluronic Acid to protect the skin from moisture loss; and brightening Vitamin C + licorice Extract complex to provide brightening benefits.
Personally, I think it’s better to use it as a regular rinse-off mask by spreading a nice, thin layer over clean, dry skin for 10-15 minutes to avoid potential irritation. It does sting a little bit at first, but you might not even feel it if your skin is more resilient than mine. I enjoyed this mask and thought it was pretty effective, but I wouldn’t call it a must-have in my routine. If you already use retinol every day as I do, chances are your skin might not even need additional exfoliation, but of course YMMV.
You will LOVE it if:
- You have a dry, normal, combination, or oily skin type.
- You are looking to brighten the skin and improve radiance.
- You don’t mind essential oils in skincare.
You will HATE it if:
- You have sensitive or highly reactive skin.
- You already have other potent exfoliants in your everyday routine, like retinol.
- You’re on a budget. Luzern is a luxury brand and their products are priced accordingly.
- You prefer fragrance-free skincare. Although the fragrance is natural and subtle you just can’t miss it.
- You avoid jar packaging.
- You are sensitive to any of the ingredients.

Luzern Nuit Eye Masque ($165) – I wasn’t sure why they’re calling an eye cream a mask until I tried it. This ultra-nourishing formula is packed with soothing and brightening ingredients, like honey, two molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid, peptides, anti-oxidant Alpine botanicals, and brightening complex with Vitamin C and Licorice. Biodyne TRF (tissue respiratory factor) deserves its own separate mention. This unique skincare ingredient helps reduce local inflammation, improve the look and feel of puffiness and calm skin for a more rested appearance.
This is definitely richer than any other eye cream I own, and I can only see myself using it as an overnight treatment. The mask is lush and luxurious, and never fully absorbs, leaving a slight trace of creamy residue that you simply rinse off in the morning when you wash your face. Unless you have very dry skin, I don’t think it can be used in the daytime and definitely not under makeup. With that said, I love how nice it makes my eyes look! I truly wake up looking well-rested, because the eyes are usually a dead giveaway of how well one slept the night before. My skin feels more supple and firmer after a few weeks of use, too. The cream comes with a cooling applicator that you can use to gently massage the eye area for a nice depuffing effect.
You will LOVE it if:
- You always look tired in the morning.
- The skin around your eyes is very dry or shows signs of aging.
- You prefer skincare made with natural ingredients.

- You avoid fragrance in cosmetics.

BOTTOM LINE:
Welp, my Luzern Nuit Collection review turned out to be a lot longer than I expected, so I hope it was informative! The main takeaway from this is two things: a) yes, this stuff is NOT cheap by any means, and b) but at least I can understand this pricing model. These formulations are cosmetically elegant and effective, they produce results but are also pleasant to use. As far as natural and non-toxic anti-aging skincare goes, it can hardly get any better, so if you’re on the market for some really luxurious and effective clean beauty, this is a brand that deserves your attention.

With most ingredients, the safety concerns often come down to the concentration, as many compounds are beneficial in small amounts but can be harmful in wrong doses. Sola dosis facit venenum – the dose makes the poison. 😉
