Love Goodly August/September 2018 Box Review

At this point I am kind of over the subscription box fad, but Love Goodly is one of the few I am genuinely excited about. Every two months I look forward to discovering natural and eco-friendly faves from beauty and lifestyle brands, and many of the past offerings found their way into my permanent routine. Here’s what eco-Santa brought this time!

HOW IT WORKS:

For $29.95 Love Goodly box subscribers will receive a curated selection of eco-friendly, vegan, & natural products delivered every other month. Alternatively, for $47.95 you can receive a VIP box, which includes the bi-monthly products plus one more full size skincare/beauty product with a value over $35. Total VIP box value is always over $115. Click here to subscribe.

CONTENTS:

1 // Balanced Guru Scalp Treatment ($23) – This certified organic liquid treatment comes in a tinted bottle with a dropper applicator. It’s meant to be applied on the scalp and roots to help with excess oiliness and in my experience it did just that. The secret lies within a carefully crafted mix of essential oils that balance the oil production and also make the skin feel fresh. Some of the essential oils in the blend are known for their antifungal properties, so the treatment might help with certain types of dandruff as well.

Balanced Guru Scalp Treatment is certified organic, nontoxic, vegan, cruelty free, and sustainably made.

2 // Axiology Lipstick in The Goodness ($30) – Axiology has been on my radar since they landed at Sephora, which means the beauty retailer giant recognized the brand’s potential. I must say, this formula has the most unusual texture! Think about melting a stick of butter against your lips, that’s what it feels like to apply. The color payoff on my shade was light to medium, but it built up really well, especially if I patted the lips lightly and continued layering for more opacity. Trying this lipstick made me want to buy more in other colors next time I spot them on a good sale. It’s definitely one of the most comfortable natural lippies on my recent memory.

Axiology products are non-toxic, cruelty free, palm oil free, vegan, sustainably made, and the company donates a portion of the proceeds to charities [Orangutan Foundation International, PETA, and others].

3 // Doctor Rogers Healing Balm ($30) – Speaking of lip care, I was blown away by this healing balm. Chic and minimalist packaging aside, the formula is superb and it stays. I use it as an overnight lip mask, and I can still feel it on my lips in the morning when I wake up. The texture feels like lanolin, but it’s actually a glycerin base. So if you hate lanolin, petroleum jelly, or beeswax based balms – this one is totally worth a try, although it is a bit pricey.

Doctor Rogers Healing Balm is non-toxic, vegan, cruelty free, and made in the USA.

4 // LOVE GOODLY Reusable Straw ($3.50) – You probably heard the news about some fast food chains phasing out the plastic straws, and it’s about time we did, too. For years I’ve been buying biodegradable paper straws, but having a reusable metal or glass alternative is great too. They are easy to clean and I can keep it in my purse so I can use it at restaurants and fast food chains instead. Over time it will make a big difference!

5 // Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs ($1.50) I love chickpeas! I could eat hummus every day, and I also often add chickpeas to my homemade vegan burgers, curries, and various salads for some extra nutrition. This vegan snack was crunchy and full of flavor – it tasted like real cheese!

Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs are soy-free, peanut-free, tree nut free, USDA Certified Organic, certified gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and kosher. The company also donates a portion of the proceeds to Farm Africa, an organization that helps support farmers in eastern Africa.

BOTTOM LINE:

As you can see, every product in Love Goodly August/September 2018 box helps the planet in some way, whether it’s donating to charities around the world, using sustainable resources, or sourcing organic ingredients that are grown without nasty pesticides that damage the local ecosystem. I love supporting brands like these, and Love Goodly always manages to surprise me with new eco-friendly discoveries. Every single product in this box was fabulous, and I liked them all equally so I don’t have a clear favorite this time. Can’t wait to see what’s coming in the October/November box!

Every Love Goodly box benefits a charitable cause, and the August/September box gives back to Farm Sanctuary, a leading farm animal protection organization.
