Remember when 3-free nail polishes were all the rage and we were hunting them down to add to our collections? Now the time has come to set a new gold standard for non-toxic polishes, as more and more companies are switching to a 5-free formula. Just to remind everyone, a 3-free formula traditionally avoids the use of Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP, and a 5-free formula also adds Camphor and Formaldehyde Resin to that list.
There aren’t that many companies producing 5-free nail polishes yet, and some of them are more known than others. Londontown is one of those companies which I believe should get more recognition, because this brand became one of my best nail polish discoveries this year.
Unfortunately, right now it’s a bit challenging to produce glitters and holographic shades because the formula has its limitations, but for anybody who is into cremes and shimmers a 5-free polish is a must. Londontown sent me two stunning lakur colors to try, as well as their amazing kur base and top coat and nail treatment.
Purple Reign – “There is only one way to rule an empire – in style and royal colour!”
As many of you already know, I really love my lilacs and violets, and I could probably paint my nails with a different shade of purple every day for the rest of my life and never get bored. lakur Purple Reign is a stunning opaque true lilac creme one-coater. It goes on smoothly like butter and dries with a muted shiny finish. Here is another great swatch of Purple Reign, where I used it as a base color for a colorful french tip manicure.
Guarded Jewel – “Protected in the Tower of London, the crown jewels are an essence of British culture that merits guarding.”
What a fantastic color! This fabulous bright burgundy shade has quickly become one of the favorites in my nail polish collection. Just like Purple Reign, this opaque creme is also a one-coater, it dries fairly quickly and sets with a slightly muted glossy finish.
I am already in love with the colors, so what could possibly impress me even more? Well, it appears that all lakur nail polishes contain a unique blend of vitamins and minerals to make your nails healthier every time you wear your favorite shades.

Using your favorite lakur color on top of kur Nail Hardener creates a molecule bond that reinforces nail strength and works to prevent nails from breaking, cracking and splitting. kur Nail Hardener was created with a combination of Britain’s rapeseed flower oil and a unique blend of natural extracts and vitamins to repair and hydrate dry, brittle, weak and soft nails. It can be even be worn alone as a clear everyday nail treatment for those of you trying to grow out your nails while nourishing them from within.
And of course, no manicure is complete without a top coat sealing in your beautiful fresh nail color and protecting it from fading due to UV rays and everyday wear. Londontown developed kur Protective Top Coat infused with essential vitamins and minerals to ensure a hardwearing finish that seals in crucial nutrients which protects and nourishes the nail. I don’t have much experience with 5-free top coats, but among the few I have tried, this one is by far the best. It dries a lot faster than all of them, and provides one of the glossiest finishes I’ve ever seen, which can rival even the 3-free titan Seche Vite itself.
And finally, on those days when you want to just let your nails rest, why not give them some serious SPA pampering with kur Restorative Nail Cream? It comes in a sleek jar like a face moisturizer, so it’s easy to just dip a finger in and distribute the treatment among your nails using gentle massaging motions. Don’t forget to use the moisturizing gloves that come with the treatment to receive the maximum benefit. I personally loved this nail cream as a quick fix for overdried cuticles, since I participated in a nail art challenge and had to use nail polish remover every day, and sometimes even several times a day! My nails became brittle and the cuticles turned rough, but each time kur Restorative Nail Cream made them look nice and healthy overnight.
The verdict: So which of these products would I call my favorites, and which would I recommend? Honestly, like I mentioned earlier, Londontown brand turned out to be one of my best nail discoveries this year. I couldn’t pinpoint a favorite product even if I was offered money for it, because I would recommend all of them. They all have amazing formulas, all of them lived up to their claims, I was always impressed and never disappointed. All of these products have become my staples, and I’m looking forward to promoting Londontown products to you in the future, because they deserve to be shared.
