Lancome DreamTone Skin Tone Correcting Serum Review

pr sample

Lancome’s new DreamTone complexion enhancing serums generated a lot of buzz around the blogosphere recently, so I was very curious to try it for myself. Luckily, as a member of She Speaks community, I was able to get my hands on a complementary bottle. These serums come in three tint shades: 01 for Fair skin tones, 02 for Medium skin tones, and 03 for Dark skin tones. Since I’m pretty much Casper white, my choice was obvious – I went with the Fair option.

PRODUCT CLAIMS
Lancome DreamTone barely tinted serums promise to visibly correct dark spots, color imperfections and uneven skin tone, with ingredients so powerful 72% of women dare to bare their skin.

Each one of these three serums is customized to treat the biggest concerns of each complexion:

  • 01 Fair – Treats Dark Spots, Uneven Skin Tone and Redness
  • 02 Medium – Treats Dark Spots, Uneven Skin Tine and Sallowness
  • 03 Dark – Treats Dark Spots, Uneven Skin Tone and Acne & Blemish Marks

First of all I have to compliment the beautiful packaging, I love when companies invest some extra time and effort into making these bottles for their precious products that make me want to proudly display them on my bathroom shelf. However, we all know that fancy packaging adds at least 30% to retail price, and whether someone wants to overpay for a pretty bottle or not is an individual choice.

At the time of this review I’ve been using my DreamTone serum for three weeks, applying it two times a day under my moisturizer. I could definitely see an immediate brightening effect, which was purely cosmetic, due to shimmery particles the serum is packed with. I had a few red spots around my nose and on my chin that I wanted to lighten up a bit, so I was hoping DreamTone would help me out with that. After three weeks my problem spots seemed a bit lighter, but I wasn’t entirely sure if its due to the serum or it was my skin’s natural turnover that did the trick. One bottle of DreamTone will last me forever, considering how very little you need. I used at least two-three pumps daily, and after three weeks the bottle doesn’t feel any lighter than the day I first opened it.

I’m sure you’re all curious about the cons and pros, so here they are. I tried to be fair, considering I’ve only been using this serum for three weeks, which normally wouldn’t be enough to see noticeable whitening results.

Pros:

  • The shimmer effect is very subtle and flattering
  • Feels very comfortable on the skin
  • Beautiful packaging

Cons:

  • Contains too much “fragrance” and alcohol, both are known skin irritants
  • Results can take a long time to show
  • Price
