Julep Mystery Box Unboxing and Review: Destination – The Hamptons

About a week ago Julep announced their new Mystery Boxes. This time they had three varieties to choose from: Laguna Beach, The Hamptons, and Miami. Each one of the boxes was supposed to be filled with $70-$200 worth of products, and follow the main theme of the select “destination”. I personally lean more towards the classic hues, so for my first Mystery Box I chose The Hamptons, which Julep classifies as “classic, preppy, and glam”.

I ended up receiving the following products:

  • Pomegranate Body Creme
  • Strawberry-Mint Lip Balm
  • Neon Twistbands x3
  • Julep Jackie
  • Julep Teri x2

That’s right, I really got two identical nail polishes in the same Mystery Box. I could see that happening if I bought more than one box, but I actually didn’t, so it had to be some sort of a mistake. I already emailed Julep CS about it and waiting to hear back from them.
Update: I was apparently supposed to receive Amelia as my third nail polish, and the CS lady was nice enough to send it out to me at no additional cost when I explained my situation and attached a few pictures of my box. Yay for good CS!

Now, aside from this little mishap, I’m pretty satisfied with the products and colors I got, except, maybe, the hair ties. IMO these neon colors are more suited for the Miami box.

The polishes are absolutely gorgeous, and I like both of them a lot. Teri (below) has a tough formula to work with because it’s more on the goopy and streaky side, but Jackie (above) is a beautiful semi-sheer red that provides a super even and streak-less coverage.

So all in all, I decided to splurge on a Laguna Beach box, too, and it’s already in transit to me as we speak. Can’t wait to see what I get in that one!

Product Retail value
Pomegranate Body Creme $18.00
Strawberry-Mint Lip Balm $6.00
Neon Twistbands x3 $3.00
Julep Jackie $14.00
Julep Teri x2 $28.00
Box Retail Value $69.00

Disclosure: I bought this.

I’ve always felt the Julep CS was really good! I agree that the neon hair ties don’t fit the theme of this box. Can’t wait to see your next one!

My box was also under $70 (and I feel like the “value” should be calculated on maven prices, which makes them more like $57). I was definitely underwhelmed. And I was sure I was going to get one of the $600 gift cards too! 😉 haha!

Well, I’m not a Maven so the value for me was whatever Julep is selling them for 🙂 Getting one of those gift cards would have been amazing hehe, I hope you get one in your next Mystery Box 😀

Yep, that was nice of them. I honestly expected something along the lines of “oh well, too bad, it’s a mystery box after all” yadda yadda etc. Glad that I was wrong 😉
