September is my Birthday month so I usually expect my subscription boxes to be extra special. Wishful thinking on my part, I know, but I always look forward to them. Last month’s box is hard to top, but looks like I was in for another treat in September!
HOW IT WORKS: Glossybox is one of the most popular international beauty subscription services, and now it finally came to the US. Each month Glossybox subscribers receive up to six deluxe-size to full size products from crème de la crème of international brands. At $21/month this is one of the more expensive monthly sample boxes, but the value of your box will always be way above. If you would like to use my referral link click here to join Glossybox. Thank you!
Right off the bat the box proved to be very promising! 12 Benefits Love At First Lather Foaming Hair Shampoo is something I never really tried before. It’s the same concept as those foaming cleansers, but for the hair. I didn’t expect it to clean that well, but it did a great job. Don’t think I would replace my regular shampoo with it, but it’s kind of a neat idea.
Another curious product I got to try was Stiks Cosmetiks Lipstik. The bullet looks edgy and something a German or a Swedish designer would make. I also enjoyed the formula quite a bit – it’s creamy, but not too buttery, with a slight satiny finish. It doesn’t transfer or bleed into the lip lines, and also offers a very impressive lasting power. This particular color is lovely, but not something I would wear every day.
When you think the box couldn’t get any better, I found this small dropper bottle of Biossanse The Revitalizer, made of 100% plant-derived squalane. You guys probably already know my obsession with TATCHA skin care, right? Well, they also use olive-derived squalane in their formulas, and they all work wonderfully for my combination/dry complexion. Just two-three drops of this lovely oil-serum is enough to soothe the skin and moisturize any dry patches.
Surely there’s a dud in the box, right? Nope! The next product I tried was Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush, and it’s just the right shade for contouring. The formula is highly pigmented and a little powdery, and this color looks beautiful as a contour, a bronzer, or a blush on the apples of the cheeks. It’s one of those shades that I never would have bought for myself, but I’m loving the way it looks on my fair skin.
The last sample in my September Glossybox was a full-sized bottle of Nails Inc Nail Polish in Uptown, an opaque dusty rose with creme finish. These polishes are always either a hit or a miss for me, and I”m not quite sure about this one yet.
Swatch reference: My skin tone is between MAC NC15 and NW15 with yellowish hue and neutral undertones. Sometimes I can wear NW20 in the Summer. I thought this would be useful to know, since all screens show colors differently, and I also don’t have a studio setup with consistent lighting. Hope that helps!
THE VERDICT: What a fantastic box, right ladies? Or am I the only one excited about it? I think Glossybox nailed this one, it’s like these products were really tailored to my personal tastes. Even the lipstick is gorgeous, although I’m too shy to wear it every day. I do however wear reds and plums for special occasions, so i look forward to using it this Fall 🙂
