I’ve been meaning to write about the latest Summer collection from gloMinerals for weeks, but never really had the time to sit down and summarize my thoughts – always new projects and new chores to distract me. Today’s the day!
For Summer 2015 gloMinerals released four new shades of their fabulous Eye Shadow singles, six shades of Cream Glaze Crayons [love these!], and Solar Shade SPF50 sunscreen. The latter is actually from Glo’s skin care line gloTherapeutics, but it goes perfectly with the whole Summer theme so I decided to include it in this review.
I received two of four Eye Shadows to try – Coy [matte peachy beige] and Vintage [matte lilac taupe]. If there’s one thing I know about gloMinerals eye shadow formula, it’s that it lasts a very long time on my oily lids regardless of the season. Matte eye shadows tend to be less pigmented than shimmery colors, but both Coy and Vintage exceeded my expectations. Not to mention that these shades work together so well, they’re like peanut butter and jelly of eye shadows! 🙂 Overall, both of these are winners and I can see myself using them during Fall and Winter months as well, since these are not Summer-exclusive colors.
Ingredients: Mica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zinc Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Lauryol Lysine, Boron Nitride, Silica, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Isopentyldiol, (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Carmine (CI 75470), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Yellow Lake 5 (CI 19140)
Cream Glaze Crayons have a fabulous formula as well! They are so buttery and smooth, and practically melt on your lips when they come in contact with body heat, creating an illusion of fuller lips and evening out the surface imperfections. They can even be worn by people with chronically chapped lips [like myself], and the coverage will conceal instead of emphasize those dry spots. What’s not to love?
Ingredients: Bis-Behenyl/Isostearyl/Phytosteryl Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Isocetyl Stearate, Diisostearyl Malate, Polybutene, Synthetic Wax, Silica, Synthetic Beeswax, Glyceryl Caprylate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), (+/-): Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Red 6 & 7 Lakes (CI 15850), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090)
I received two shades to try – Mimosa [warm tulip pink] and Jetset [bright reddish orange], and Jetset was by far my favorite. While Mimosa looks lovely for everyday, Jetset packs a serious punch of color and makes my lips look all juicy and pouty. It looks particularly fantastic with minimal makeup – tousled waves, a hint of blush, mascara, filled in brows and nothing else.
Swatch reference: My skin tone is between MAC NC15 and NW15 with yellowish hue and neutral undertones. Sometimes I can wear NW20 in the Summer. I thought this would be useful to know, since all screens show colors differently, and I also don’t have a studio setup with consistent lighting. Hope that helps!
You all know me as a sunscreen girl, and I definitely know a good one when I see it. New Solar Shade SPF50 was formulated to meet the highest industry standards while delivering lightweight coverage that doesn’t clog pores.

I have a personal story to share: my Aunt is very allergic to sunscreens and always breaks out in hives when she uses one. I insisted that she tries this one, and guess what? This is literally the first sunscreen ever that she wasn’t allergic to! She liked it so much, she bought a bottle to try. Beauty enabling at its finest, and for a good cause, because sun protection is important! 🙂
