Empties Vol. 35 (skincare, body care)

Empties Vol. 35 (skincare, body care)

I know I talked a bit about testing lots of new products lately, so I honestly didn’t think I would have any empties to share for a while. However, here we are! To be fair, two of these are tosses, but they were mostly finished anyway and I still remember how I felt about them when they were in use.

SKINCARE:

1 // Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser Activated Charcoal* ($13.99) – I rarely finish cleansers because I tend to get bored with them and move on to the next thing too quickly. This one was living in my shower for a very long time, and it’s actually one of my favorite products from Derma E. The formula has a low pH to keep the skin’s protective acid barrier intact, and I love that it made my face feel clean without stripping off moisture.

Repurchase? I already have another one in the stash, but going to wait before I finish using other products first.

2 // PIXI x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse* ($24) – I raved about this double cleanser before and I still think it’s one of PIXI’s best products. Caroline sure knows what she’s talking about when it comes to skincare! The balmy side melts off even the most long-lasting and waterproof formulas, and the cleansing cream helps remove the last bits of balm and products from the skin, while moisturizing it at the same time.

Repurchase? I already have an extra jar, thanks to PIXI. Love this stuff!

3 // Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50* ($72) – This is a sunscreen and an anti-aging moisturizer in one, and I loved using it this summer when i was visiting my family in Russia. The formula doesn’t feel like sunscreen at all – it’s creamy, silky, and very comforting. Also, I managed to avoid tanning despite spending a lot of time outside in the sun in 90 degree weather, and that says something about the effectiveness of this formula!

Repurchase? Already have 2 backups, one of which I am using right now 😉

4 // Sevendrops Moringa Light Sunblock SPF50+ ($30) – I had this sunscreen for far too long and it is most definitely expired. However, I was reminded once again how nice Korean sunscreens are – and Asian sunscreens in general. They are really a step ahead when it comes to texture and latest ingredients, so you can get the benefits of a good broad-spectrum sunscreen paired with a handful of skin loving actives.

Repurchase? Probably not, but the fact that it’s still available speaks volumes about its popularity. Korean brands are very quick to discontinue underperforming products.

5 // From The Lab Eye Cream (???) – I *completely* forgot about this eye cream, but I used to like it a lot. From The Lab uses the same model as Beauty Pie where they send you unbranded products from cosmetic labs. I really enjoyed this subscription back in the day.

Repurchase? No.

BATH & BODY:

6 // Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant ($4.49) – Practical, affordable, and it works. I really like Dove antiperspirants because they smell nice and don’t irritate my skin. I know aluminum antiperspirants are not the healthiest thing on the planet, but unfortunately deodorants no longer work for me, so I switched to the hard stuff.

Repurchase? Sure! I may try other scents too.

7 // Molton Brown Shower Gel* ($32) – You guys know all about my love affair with Molton Brown and their incredible body washes. I seriously adore the scents they come up with! My husband and I recently finished two of them: I emptied out the Fabled Juniper Berries & Lapp Pine and he finished Russian Leather on his end. Love-love-love both of these so much! The warm, masculine scent of Russian Leather and the crisp foresty bouquet of Fabled Juniper Berries & Lapp Pine are so nice for the end of summer. Ideally I’d put these in the shower around November, but I just couldn’t wait that long. They are definitely a splurge though, and a fancy body wash is probably the last thing on my treat yo self list.

Repurchase? I only ever buy Molton Brown body washes when they are discounted, so I will probably wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.

Have you finished any beauty products lately? Do you ever forget about products that you like?
