DS Laboratories Revita Hair Stimulating Shampoo & Conditioner Review, Pictures

It’s been a while since I last reviewed hair care products, but it’s been even longer since I was this excited to share my thoughts about them. DS Laboratories is not a brand I was familiar with before, and although they’re sold at many big online retailers, I don’t think I’ve ever noticed their products. A big mistake on my part, because I recently got an opportunity to try out Revita shampoo and conditioner, and they seriously transformed my hair from dry and lifeless to smooth, shiny and much more voluminous.

BRAND OVERVIEW
DS Laboratories is on a mission to change radically the personal-care landscape by developing technologies that make a meaningful difference in the lives of their customers. DS Laboratories is a technology company aggressively focused on innovation that lives by the following principles:

  • Every product that is launched must deliver certain features and benefits that are not available from any competitor. If a product does not meet these criteria, then it is simply abandoned. DS Laboratories will not manufacture a mere variation of something else just to fill up shelf space.
  • All products are rigorously tested to verify all claims through double-blind clinical studies. If a compound or ingredient has not been verified through such means, then it will not be used in any products. DS Laboratories is one of the very few cosmetic companies that conducts its own in-house double-blind clinical testing with human volunteers.
  • Innovation will always come before economics. DS Laboratories’ own chemists work on a cost-is-no-object basis to push the envelope of what is possible in technology.
  • The company’s primary goal is to create technologies and solutions that make a meaningful difference in the lives of their customers. Profits are merely a side-effect of this paradigm.

Revita.Cor Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner – bottle
Product (L to R): Revita Hair Growth Shampoo, Revita.Cor Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner

Each tube is sealed tight to prevent leaks.

The products come in tall round bottles, which are securely sealed to prevent accidental leaks and contamination until the product reaches the consumer. You have no idea how many times I received leaked shampoo bottles in the mail, so this kind of packaging was very refreshing.

The application of both of these products is actually not intuitive at all. The shampoo has to be used in two steps: first step is massaging it into your wet scalp gently and leaving it on for two minutes; then repeat and leave it on for five minutes. For optimal results the shampoo has to be used at least five times a week. Unlike normal conditioners aimed to moisturize [dead] hair, Revita.Cor has to be massaged directly into the scalp to promote future growth of healthier strands. For best results this conditioner has to be used daily.

I tested Revita Hair Growth Shampoo + Revita.Cor Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner system for five weeks, and there were two clear “stages” that I experienced during that period. For the first week I honestly didn’t notice any mindblowing results, which made me think that the product wasn’t really working that well for me. However, after 10-11 days it hit me that my dry scalp didn’t itch anymore, and mild flaking that I usually experience during Winter months has completely disappeared. After two weeks my hair started falling out, not all of it at once or anything dramatic like that, but fairly big tufts, and that got me very scared. I decided to read the booklet included in the box, and sure enough, DS Laboratories explained it all! The fallout I was experiencing was due to hair follicles being stimulated by Shampoo & Conditioner’s active ingredients, so it was my own body shedding all the dead weight because it was ready to start growing new healthy hair. After three weeks the shedding stopped, and I was actually experiencing way less fallout than I normally did before, like whatever strands were left became stronger and more resilient to damage. After five weeks, my hair looks silky smooth, less frizzy, and the strands just feel thicker and less coarse than before, even though I lost some volume during the “shedding week”.

In Before and After pictures you can see the transformation, and I have to tell you that I actually didn’t color my hair between taking these shots. It just looks different now because the texture of my hair has changed: it’s now smoother, shinier and more reflective than before. DS Laboratories sent me another system to try, but I’m so in love with this one, I’m afraid to get off of it now because I want my hair to stay in this condition forever 🙂

Before and After 5 Weeks

THE VERDICT
Those pictures above sum up my experience with Revita.Cor Hair Growth Stimulating Conditioner & Revita Hair Growth Shampoo pretty well. It was scary to see my hair fall out after two weeks of use, but once that stage was over, I felt almost liberated from all that dead weight, and welcomed the healthy, shiny strands.

Oh wow! Your hair looks beautiful! This may be something I need to try!

    • March 7, 2014 / 9:17 am

Thank you Jamie! This system has mixed reviews everywhere I looked, but as you can see, it actually worked pretty well for me. Obviously this is not something that’ll work for everyone, so i don’t want to give you any false hopes, but you can only see results if you diligently stick to the regimen. It was hard not to stop when my hair started falling out, good thing I read that it was actually supposed to happen.

Thank you Kim, indeed the color looks very shiny and vibrant, but in reality i didn’t do anything to it for several months now.

WOW I totally thought you added a gloss or a toner to your hair!

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:05 pm

Haha, I know right? A lot of my damaged hair just shed off, maybe the healthier strands were just hiding all this time and now we can finally see them.

  6. March 7, 2014 / 3:08 pm

That’s amazing! Not that your hair had anything wrong with it before, but it’s…. it just took it up a notch 🙂

    Your hair looks amazing!

  8. March 7, 2014 / 9:06 pm

I can definitely see the difference, but the two step shampooing would drive me nuts

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:15 pm

Yeah, those extra steps were a tad bit annoying, but I’m glad that the result was worth it.

  9. March 8, 2014 / 12:37 am

Geez, I woud freak out too! I have long hair and it’s horrifying to see chunks of hair shedding. Your hair does look amazing!

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:18 pm

Exactly, my hair is already fine, so seeing chunks fall out really scared me at first! D:

  10. March 8, 2014 / 12:56 am

Your hair does look amazing. Last thing I need is more hair! Lol. I’m not sure I want to wash that frequently, either. But, your results speak for themselves!

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:20 pm

Thank you Nidia! Indeed, washing so often is probably an inconvenience, but what wouldn’t we girls do for pretty hair 😀

  11. March 8, 2014 / 12:58 am

You look amazing ! You should snap photos of yourself more often.

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:22 pm

Thank you Betzy! I’m actually really shy, so I rarely snap pictures of myself :))

    • March 9, 2014 / 7:23 pm

It really did, all that hard work paid off 🙂
