I received this beautiful bottle of Dolce & Gabbana L’Imperatrice [$74, available here] as a going away gift from my sister when I decided to move from Russia to the US, leaving all of my friends and relatives behind. As you can see, I’ve been using it sparingly, even though I absolutely adore this fragrance. I just don’t want to run out of it, because every time I wear it, I am reminded of home and the wonderful people I would love to see again some day.
L’Imperatrice is part of The D&G Anthology Collection that was inspired by tarot cards and their marks. I have not yet tried other fragrances from the collection, but some of them are in my Scentbird queue right now, so I will get to sample them eventually.

L’Imperatrice is a crowd-pleasing showstopper. If you are looking to buy a bottle of perfume for someone as a blind gift without knowing their scent preferences, this is one of those rare perfect candidates. Naturally, fragrances are very individual and what works for some won’t necessarily smell good to others, but D&G worked some kind of magic here because the notes they combined come together in the most alluring and flattering way. I feel pretty darn confident to say that most women [and men!] will like or love L’Imperatrice.
“Flamboyant and energetic, for L’Imperatrice life is a movie and she is its heroine. All heads turn when she enters a room. Vibrant, magnetic she exudes charisma and force of character.”
- Top notes: Rhubarb, Red Currant, Kiwi
- Heart notes: Pink Cyclamen, Watermelon, Jasmine
- Base notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Lemon Tree Bark
The bottle is classic and simple, and will look good as a decor piece on both minimalistic and posh vanity tables. It’s a little masterpiece for your trays, too!
The best part about wearing D&G L’Imperatrice is feeling sexy and confident. Women often stop me to ask what perfume I’m wearing, and that alone is a pretty big compliment to the scent. So my advice is, when you stop by your local Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom or another beauty retailer that stocks The D&G Anthology Collection, give it a whiff. But don’t say I didn’t warn you, because you just might go home with a bottle of this previous fragrance before you know it!
