DermStore Mini-haul and Review: Trees and Basq

Okay, this was one of those stupid splurges that should have never happened. I admit, I’m a compulsive shopper especially when it comes to beauty products and it’s really hard for me to resist a sweet deal. I like shopping with DermStore because I have a huge supply of $25 off $50 codes since I always kept forgetting to review my BeautyFix products. So whenever I see a good deal on that site I go and review two products to get the code.

I’ve always wanted to try Basq and Trees because I kept seeing good reviews about both brands. Since I already have a ton of beauty goo I wanted to buy the types of products I don’t already have. Here’s what I ended up getting!

Basq Citrus Sugar Exfoliating Body Polish + Resilient Body Oil (0.5oz) Gift with Purchase
The sugar grains were finer than in the Tree Hut body scrub I’m using right now, and I thought that was a good thing since it was much more gentle but with the same great exfoliating properties. I wasn’t a fan of the scent though, the citrusy fragrance reminded me of my bathroom cleaning supplies. The scent is kind of a big deal for me, so just because of that I probably wouldn’t purchase this scrub again.
The oil sample was a gift with purchase and I liked it quite a bit. It’s thick and luxurious and absorbed into my skin right away. I’m currently on a diet to lose at least 20 lbs so anything that can help me prevent the stretch marks is greatly appreciated. After reading tons of raving reviews about this oil on Dermstore and other sites I think I will use it when I’m pregnant as well.

Trees Ritual Body Lotion in “Stairways” + Ritual Bath and Shower Gel “Magnet” (7.7fl oz.) Gift with Purchase
I loved the formula of this super lightweight body lotion. I only decided to purchase this after reading the reviews and I’m so glad I did! The consistency is not what you’d expect – it’s actually very runny, think heavy whipping cream. It absorbs really well and leaves the skin with lovely healthy glow. This is a great lotion for any skin type, I’ve seen people with oily skin and super dry skin raving about it equally. I have combination skin and I loved it as well.
The gift with purchase shower gel was full-sized which is nice. It smells very strongly of sandalwood and I looove sandalwood! I normally wouldn’t wear fragrances with that note mainly because I feel like it’s more of a man’s scent, but I have many good memories associated with it so I often choose sandalwood candles and soap. The gel looks like liquid bronze and creates beautiful and thick lather.

So, what was that great deal I was talking about? In addition to my $25 off $50 code from BeautyFix, my purchase qualified me for two free magazine subscriptions which you can opt-out of and send them a mail-in rebate to receive $10 back per title. After the discount and the rebates my grand total was only $9.00 for $93 worth of products!

Disclosure: I bought this.
