Delight Beauty: 4-Step Skincare Routine
Does your life ever become so busy that you literally have no time to spare on self-care? I can be quite a workaholic when faced with fast-approaching work or life-related deadlines, so I am very guilty of that myself. These past few weeks have been particularly crazy and I barely even had time to think which serum I’m supposed to use or what time of day it is [lol, don’t ask, this actually happened]. When I got introduced to Delight Beauty and read about their mission, I knew this company just might help me keep it together during this busy period.
Delight Beauty is the mission. The company believes that daily skincare should be a delight – streamlined, uncomplicated, and fast but also approachable, which sounds pretty awesome and just what I need right now. Every product is carefully developed with its own unique feature – a bit of sparkle, a soft brush applicator, a fresh zingy scent, a soothing massage tip – because who said that a quick skincare routine can’t also be fun?
I’ll be honest, I normally don’t mind a routine that involves complicated steps and takes a little longer, but when you’re constantly pressed on time, day after day, it becomes unmanageable. I was sent four products, and only used these four on my extra busy days, and guess what? My skin is looking healthy and radiant despite constant lack of sleep. I like that I don’t have to think about which actives come first, how long to wait in-between, the layering order, and so on – I have my little set lined up by the sink and use them one after another [I use the mask 2-3 times a week].
I start the routine with Sparkling Clean Zinc Face Wash ($17.50), which has a lush thick gel texture with a little bit of sparkle. The formula boasts natural zinc, papaya and pomegranate enzymes, and hyaluronic acid that leave my skin clean and soft to touch, but my favorite part is the fresh scent of lemongrass and coconut. It seriously smells so good!
Twice a week I like to use Roll With It Gel Detox Mask ($23.50). I apply it in circular motions to freshly cleansed skin and leave on for about 5 minutes while I brush my teeth. The formula contains a complex of grapefruit, mango and pomegranate enzymes [it smells like them, too!] and glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin, while hyaluronic acid helps to soothe and moisturize. I really like that cooling roller applicator, it’s like I’m getting a peel, a massage, and aromatherapy at once. Very impressed with this novelty mask.
After cleansing and/or using the mask, I usually swipe Fresh Sweep Calming Gel Toner ($23.50) across my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin and gently pat it in to help with absorption. With this gel toner, you don’t need to waste cotton rounds because it comes with its own charcoal-infused brush applicator that can be quickly rinsed after each use. The formula has some of my favorite soothing ingredients – chamomile, cucumber, and aloe vera, as well as purifying witch hazel.
Moisturizer is never an optional step in my routine because it helps to seal in the moisture and protect the skin. Smooth Hydration Nourishing Moisturizer ($27.50) works around the clock thanks to its lightweight texture that doesn’t suffocate my skin at night and wears well under makeup during the day. This silky, luxurious lotion is formulated with an array of delightful ingredients: apricot, maqui berry, avocado and shea butter to nourish, and vitamins C and E to fight free radicals. I like that it absorbs fast and leaves the skin soft and hydrated, but without any sticky residue.
All four products have been dermatologist-tested and clinically proven to be non-irritating. They are also cruelty-free, vegan, and don’t contain some controversial ingredients, like phthalates, sulfates, parabens, and petrolatum. I don’t necessarily think the latter two need to be vilified, but as long as the product is safe and effective, I don’t really care what’s excluded from the formula.
I’m glad that companies like Delight Beauty exist. Sometimes you just want someone else to take care of you when you are busy taking care of everyone else, and that’s exactly how I feel about this quick, uncomplicated beauty routine. It’s fun, fast, and effective, and the products are a delight to use.
