Are you someone who has oily or combination skin? Then you’re just like me! Sometimes, no matter what I do, my makeup practically melts off my face by lunch time, but I recently discovered a neat MUA trick, that I immediately tried on myself.
I’m sure by now you are all familiar with Evian mineral spray water, but did you know, that it can be used as a makeup primer, as well as during makeup application to intensify the colors, and also as a setting spray?
To make those powder blushes and eye shadows more vivid, simply soak your brushes in Evian water, then apply makeup as usual. That will result in better pigmentation, and enrich your makeup with Evian’s unique skin caring minerals.
Since I usually go for subtler looks, I mostly use my spray as a primer and as a setting spray – it really not only helps my makeup last longer, but also adds healthy glow to the skin. Not to mention how refreshing it feels to spray my face with this cooling mist!
Here’s the list of makeup I’m wearing in these pictures:

I had no idea you could use this to prime and set – I always wondered why the heck I would need a spray Evian but now it makes sense!!!
I knew about the setting properties, but wasn’t aware that it can be used as a primer, too. A great trick to try for sure 🙂
Great trick! I have oily skin and am going to give this a try!
I hope it works as well for you as it does for me, Carleen!
That is great trick! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
I wouldn’t have thought that water would help them to last longer!
Me neither, but I suppose when you think about it, Evian is not just your regular water. It’s highly mineralized, so it’s essentially a translucent mineral powder, dissolved in spring water, so it makes sense that it helps makeup stay put.
Great tip, very interesting!
Glad you liked it, Cindy!
I use the Evian water all the time but never knew it could be a primer. I spray my brushes with it when I want them wet, I spray my Beauty Blender sponge with it too. And I use it when hot flashes overtake me to cool me down.
Those are some great uses for Evian water, I love spraying my brushes and beautyblender with it, too.
I didn’t know you could use facial sprays as primers either. I have used them on brushes and sponges and as setting sprays on the face. Those brushes are gorgeous!
I didn’t either. I used to spray my skin from time to time to freshen up and that’s about it, but now I also use it as a primer and a setting spray. Whoever came up with this trick deserves a medal 🙂
whaaaat thats amazing! Definitely going to pick this up
Give it a shot and let me know what you think 🙂 I was surprised how well this thing works.
I’ve never heard of using facial sprays as a primer and always just used them to “freshen up”! I’ll have to give this a try
Me neither, I just used it as a cooling spray to freshen up, too, but it makes a pretty good primer since it’s basically a bunch of finely milled minerals in a water base.
I’ve been meaning to grab this to use with sponges!
I use it with my beauty blender almost daily, works like a charm!
I have been meaning to grab this for real.!
This one and Avene are my favorite waters by composition 🙂
