Bzzagent Review: Neutrogena Cosmetics

In case someone doesn’t already know, Bzzagent lets you try out new products and services for free in exchange for your honest review. This time they sent me a Neutrogena Cosmetics kit which included the following products: Brightening Eye Perfector SPF 25 in 05 Fair; Revitalizing Lip Balm SPF 20 in 20 Healthy Blush, 30 Sunny Berry and 40 Petal Glow; Nourishing Eyeliner in 10 Cosmic Black.

Brightening Eye Perfector SPF 25
This was my favorite product from the kit. Looks like Neutrogena tried to imitate YSL’s legendary Touche Eclat, and they got pretty close to the original in my opinion. I liked that they mixed in just the right amount of shimmery pigment so my under eye area didn’t end up looking like I put a bunch of glitter on. The color seemed to stay on well, and at the end of the day my dark rounds were still perfectly hidden. One main thing you should remember – if you only use this concealer for the under-eye area like I do, always make sure to put on some sort of eye cream, make-up base or a primer before applying it, because by the end of the day your skin will absorb all of the oils from the product and you will end up with patterns that might look like crow’s feet.

Pros:

  • Blends well with the skin
  • Illuminates the eye area without looking glittery
  • Great value for the price
  • SPF 25

Cons:

  • Clumps after a while if you use it without an eye cream underneath
  • Can leak out if you are not careful enough

Overall I think this is a great product, especially for a drugstore brand. I’ll give it 4.5 stars out of 5!

Revitalizing Lip Balm SPF 20
My second favorite was this lip balm trio. I very much enjoyed the addition of SPF, since I am very conscious about sun damage and try to always buy skincare and make-up products with included UVA/UVB protection. These lip balms come with a nice perk – lip plumping effect, you can tell it’s working when you feel a slight tingling on your lips. I ended up using Petal Glow shade almost every day, it has this bronzy glow which looks great if you like to wear natural make-up. Healthy Blush is a rosy-pink romantic shade, perfect if you are going on a date and want to look cute. I think the shade would be very flattering for any skin tone. And last but not the least, Sunny Berry is a nice deep shade of Raspberry, which also looks great as a blush. I almost forgot to mention that these products smell so good, you want to eat them!

Pros:

  • Beautiful, vibrant colors
  • Great for any skin tone
  • SPF 20
  • Great value for the price
  • Great smell
  • Plumping effect

Cons:

  • Have to reapply often
  • Runs out too fast

This trio is perfect for people like me who prefer to wear tinted lip balm instead of lipstick, so we don’t have to make a compromise between bold colors and lip nourishment. I’m giving this product 4 stars out of 5!

Nourishing Eyeliner
This soft eyeliner comes equipped with a smudger and a sharpener which is a great thing, because I love 3-in-1 products. The eyeliner was a little too soft for my liking, I usually prefer harder ones because they help me draw more defined lines. I think it’s not meant for those, and instead is better used for a smoky eye effect, which is perfectly achieved with that little smudger on the other end of the stick. Now if you detach the smudger, you’ll see that it turns into a tiny pencil sharpener. I actually haven’t tried using it yet, but I think it should work just fine – it seemed sharp enough to do the job well.

Pros:

  • 3-in-1 is always good
  • Perfect for smoky eyes effect

Cons:

  • Not suited for drawing well-defined lines
  • Smudges too easily
Overall, I think it’s a perfect product for creating smoky eyes effect, but not too good if you want your pencils to be versatile and serve multiple purposes. I still think it’s a pretty nice eyeliner, so I’m giving it 4 stars.
