I’m no stranger to Garnier Fructis and associate this line of hair care with some of my early childhood to early teen memories. I still remember how much I loved that signature green apple scent and how I squeezed out the remainders of my shampoo into the bathtub just so I have an excuse to ask mom to buy me some Fructis.
This was obviously way before my current sulfate-free craze, but of course I’m old enough now so I didn’t have to squeeze out my shampoos to buy sulfate-free replacements 🙂 I’m actually way more lenient about it these days and I notice myself using sulfate-containing hair products at least once a week to help remove the buildup. Which is the reason why I didn’t shun the invitation from BzzAgent to participate in this campaign and decided to give it a try, especially since this trio would potentially help me deal with my dry and frizzy colored hair.
It’s been a few days since I started using these products and I have some progress to report. First of all, I only used them twice because I still want to have sulfate-free hair days in my routine, but even that time was enough to evaluate everything properly.
First of all, like I said earlier the scent if this entire line is blazing amazing and the shampoo smells the strongest among the three. It contains fun little bubbles and micro-granules with berry concentrate that nourish the hair and clean it thoroughly at the same time. When I say thoroughly I mean it! My hair did feel super squeaky clean right after the first wash, so it probably strips the hair of oils and dirt pretty good. Normally such squeakiness would mean that my hair is about to be very very dry, but once I followed up with the conditioner it felt soft and moisturized again. See what we did there? Wash off the bad dirt and good oils, then add good oils back by using the conditioner and/or 1-minute treatment 🙂 The conditioner also works great as a detangler so I didn’t even need to comb after the shower. As for the claims that it keeps the hair clean for two days, it really does but my hair normally doesn’t need to be washed more often than that anyway.
This treatment works in the same way as the conditioner and I honestly didn’t feel that much of a difference between the two. Just like the conditioner, the Moisture-Plenish Treatment works just as well for detangling my hair in the shower and replenishing the moisture. My hair felt very light and didn’t seem to be weighed down by the ingredients in the treatment, which is a good thing when you have fine hair like mine.
- The best: The fragrance, of course! Who wouldn’t like this fresh tropical mix of kiwi, passion fruit and goji berries.
- The worst: Probably the fact that the sulfates in the shampoo strip my hair of its natural oils, even if it’s just temporary.
The verdict: I like how thoroughly this system cleansed my hair but I’m not sure if I will be repurchasing all of these products. However, since I liked the conditioner as a shower detangler I may buy it separately just for that purpose. All Hydra Recharge products lived up to their claims and if you don’t mind sulfates in your hair care they would all definitely work for you.

I’m a BzzAgent too and I got this campaign. I really like Garnier Fructis products, but I felt like this line wasn’t all that spectacular. It made my hair a big frizzy mess and it actually made it pretty dry. 🙁 I ended up not doing a review for it on my blog.

That’s too bad, because I had nothing but good experiences with them. And I really like that conditioner, it instantly detangles my hair 🙂
