Bestowed Box March 2015 Review

Here it is, my long-awaited monthly box of delicious yums! I’m often asked, what do I like so much about Bestowed, because let’s be honest, the monetary value is not always there. For me it’s like paying a premium for a personal trainer at the gym – it’s not necessary and you can always imitate what others do, but a trainer will show you the right way to do it and help avoid stupid injuries. I know I can always trust Heather Bauer to select only the best and most nutritious snacks for my boxes, and discovering new faves is always fun! March selection is all about motivating us to stay on track with our goals, and I think that hints at healthy eating habits. Let’s see what’s inside!

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & ReviewHooray Puree Spinach – While I’m not the biggest fan of spinach, I don’t necessarily hate it enough to avoid eating it at all costs [unlike, *ahem*, a certain husband of a certain beauty blogger]. This puree is already blended so it’s easy to add to soups, smoothies, or even mashed potatoes, and it tastes really fresh, too. Not bad for a packaged product!

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & ReviewJolly Oak Granola – Unlike traditional granolas, this one is GMO-free, and made with 100% natural ingredients with zero additives – only EVOO, flaxseed, and ancient grain Khorasan wheat, that come in a single-serve packet. I made a delicious parfait with it by layering it with some greek yogurt, fresh berries, and mint leaves.

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & ReviewNoGii High Protein Bar – I think most of us carry a protein bar in our bags, because really, nothing is better than an immediate boost of energy when you get really hungry in the middle of the day. I’m not a big fan of the taste, but it gets the job done, and that’s the whole point of these things.

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & ReviewNutiva O’Coconus Treats – Oh my word, I wish there was more than one of these in the box, because it’s delicious! They look like small mochi-sized balls made with very slightly sweetened shaved coconut and ultra-healthy coconut oil without added corn, soy, and cane sugar. A real treat for any coconut lover out there, seriously.

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & Review Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & ReviewOcean’s Halo Seaweed Chips – I really like seaweed, probably because my Mom fed me seaweed salad quite often as a kid. Sometimes I would buy nori sheets for sushi and just eat those as a snack, yeah I’m weird like that 😉 Anyhow, these chips have that bold seaweed flavor I adore paired with sea salt and 6 grams of healthy protein; my only gripe is that they’re a bit too dry, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a glass of water.

Stash Tea Organic Gold Cup Chai – Yum! This herbal blend is relaxation in a cup – perfectly spiced and very heartwarming. The first time I tried it, I ended up making a second cup, because it was so delicious. By the way, it tastes even better with a spoonful of honey! [oops, it seems I forgot to take a picture of this one!]

Bestowed Box March 2015 Unboxing & Reviewtera’s Organic Protein Blend – To be honest, I haven’t tried this protein powder yet, but the product card makes it sound promising. Bestowed says that it’s made with USDA certified organic whey protein made with product from ethically treated cows from small family farms and cheese makers in Wisconsin.

THE VERDICT: I forgot to mention one more thing that was included in the box – a coupon for $40 off at Hello Fresh. It’s valid for first-time customers only, and I already tried the service before, so I couldn’t redeem it. I wouldn’t recommend it without a discount though, because the value is not the greatest, but it sure is convenient to have fresh ingredients with recipes delivered weekly. As for the snacks that I tried so far, I think my favorites are Stash Tea and those yummy coconut nibs that I just may have to get more of from Amazon.
