I’ve been excited about this month’s box more than others and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. Reason is simple: Beauty Box 5 September 2016 selection is made up entirely of BB5 staff faves! I am always tempted to try products that fellow bloggers and beauty lovers adore, so obviously I kept checking the mailbox religiously every day to see if the signature mint package is in there. Finally, it’s been in my hands for a few days now and I made sure to try everything before I wrote this review. So here are my thoughts on all five samples that came in Beauty Box 5 September 2016 box. Also, I know some of you have been asking about Luna, so today she is assisting me for this blog post 🙂

CONTENTS:
1 // pur~lisse Blue Lotus Essential Daily Moisturizer SPF30 [$55, available here] – I’ve known for ages that BB5 editors love pur~lisse products based on how often they showed up in our boxes in the past. Some of these products I personally didn’t care for, while others impressed me big time. If I had to pick my own favorite product from this brand it would be their Blue Lotus Eye Serum that is seriously one of the best eye products I discovered in a beauty box in over 4 years since I started subscribing to a bunch of them. Seriously, it’s that good! Now, this moisturizer I don’t think I’ve tried before, because nothing about the name, the look, or the feel on the skin reminded me of that experience. It’s a pretty good moisturizer as far as basic skin needs go, and it has SPF30, too, which is great for everyday use. I’ll definitely use up this sample.
2 // Be A Bombshell Smooth Criminal HD Finishing Powder [$7, available here] – I am SO not a fan of Be A Bombshell, you guys! Ever since my Ipsy days I had this aversion to BAB and their sister brand Hikari Cosmetics, so I am very surprised to see this HD powder on the list of BB5 staffers’ favorites. Admittedly, it’s actually a pretty decent setting powder, but as any HD powder it looks absolutely terrible if you ever plan to take a photo with flash or any other type of artificial lighting. I think it’s just not worth it, honestly. With all that said, this jar is going straight to my donation pile.
3 // Simple Skincare Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes [$5.99, available here] – Simple has some really good products and some pretty bad ones, and these wipes are good, really good in fact. First of all, the sheets are large, none of that pixie-sized nonsense. You can actually cover your whole face with these, regardless of how big or small your face is. Second, they are thoroughly quenched with makeup remover, so you don’t need to rub the skin excessively. And lastly, my skin is crazy sensitive to wet wipes, even to everyone’s favorite Neutrogena in blue packaging that are supposed to be the best. With these, I felt no strong fragrance, no stinging around my eyes, and no tight skin afterward. Plus, they really do remove waterproof mascara as well as they claim, which is a huge A+ in my book. Basically, what I’m saying is these are perfect and you need them in your life, period.
4 // Happy Brands Happy Hair Turban [$18, available here] – I do love a good microfiber turban when I’m not airdrying my hair, and this one is pretty good. I remember receiving one of those magical makeup removing cloths from this brand a few months ago and I loved that thing. If it was up to me, I would definitely put that in my favorites roundup instead.
5 // Go Smile Teeth Whitening Gel [$29, available here] – Makeup trends come and go, but bright smile is timeless. I haven’t used this gel long enough to see any results yet, but basically you apply equal parts of the gel and your regular toothpaste to a dry toothbrush and brush your teeth as you normally would for 2 minutes AM and PM. The good thing is you aren’t adding any more time to your daily routine, so there’s no reason not to give this baby a shot 😉
BOTTOM LINE:
This was an interesting box. There were some things that I loved, and others I probably wouldn’t ever name among my personal favorites, but overall it was a pretty good selection, so I imagine a lot of subscribers were happy with what they got. I am perhaps the most excited about discovering Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, because they’re affordable and they don’t irritate my eyes. I seriously can’t recommend these enough, so if you’re in the market for makeup removing wipes give these a go for sure. It’s also nice to get a hair turban, even though I didn’t really need one as I tend to air-dry. Sometimes I like to speed up the process without having to use hairdryer, and this microfiber fabric is perfect for the task. Now, the product I didn’t care for is obviously Be A Bombshell HD Powder. Not only are those powders hard to work with, they are unforgiving when it comes to photos and videos. There are many other setting powders on the market that give the skin matte appearance and smooth airbrushed finish, all without leaving that unflattering white cast.
