Beauty Box 5 February & March 2015 Mini Review

It’s been a while since I last showed you Beauty Box 5 unboxings so today I’m going to stuff two mini-reviews in one blog post. I hope you don’t mind! I had Beauty Box 5 February & March 2016 sitting in my drawer for a while, and finally I got some time to write about them.

HOW IT WORKS:

For $12/month subscribers will receive a box filled with a carefully selected mixture of five travel-sized, deluxe-sized and full-sized cosmetic products from luxury brands, commonly known brands, niche brands, eco-conscious and even vegan brands. Aimed at introducing women to new cosmetic products and educating them on best practices, Beauty Box 5 scours the market to find the best products for your lifestyle. Click here to subscribe.

FEBRUARY BOX:

In February Beauty Box 5 celebrated their 4th anniversary and the products in the box were meant to help the subscribers get dolled up for a special event.

Manna Kadar 3 in 1 Shadow, Highlight & Blush in Fantasy is a stunning highlighter and full-sized, too! The formula is buttery smooth and very pigmented; check out the picture below for swatches. Pretty, isn’t it?

Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eye Shadow Primer was an interesting product in theory, but I’ve been disappointed with every Elizabeth Mott product I tried in the past and didn’t have high hopes for this one either.

Starlooks Custom Lip Liner in Sultry Sangria was custom-made for Beauty Box 5, and it’s a beautiful mauvey-nude shade that will look great with most complexions. Starlooks does not get a lot of love among fellow beauty bloggers, but I always thought thee quality of their products was great, even though they use a PLM [private label manufacturer].

Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm is another fabulous full-sized product in the box. My husband liked it even more than I did, so I gave in and let him have it. I love the softening properties of hemp, and even my favorite hand cream from The Body Shop is their hemp one in a squeeze tube.

Hemp Nation Kiwi-Mango Body Wash is another hemp product in the box, and it smells fabulous! Very tropical-fresh kind of scent, which works well to wake me up in the morning.

MARCH BOX:

Get glowing with March Beauty Box 5! This month’s samples were curated to make your skin petal fresh like spring blooms. What makes March box special is the number of products inside: instead of the usual five we got six pretties to add to our beauty stash.

Colour Me Sky Blue fragrance is described as  a mix of jasmine and peppery freesia. I found it too sweet and floral for my liking.

Mai Couture Blush & Highlighter Papiers are among the best things I’ve ever gotten in a subscription box. These travel-friendly beauty sheets deposit a sheer wash of color on the skin and some even act as oil-blotting papers [I think it’s just the bronzer sheets that say that].

pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4~in~1 Eye Adore Serum, like all pur~lisse products, doesn’t excite me. I love skincare, but nothing I ever tried from this brand did anything for my skin, like I have immunity to their formulations or something. Do you have that with certain brands?

Glamour Dolls Glitter Eyeliner is very on-trend right now, but even though I had no problem rocking glitter liner in high school, right now it doesn’t really work with my personal style. Boring I know, but at least I’m honest with myself!

Personail Custom Floral Nail Polish Wraps sounded boring until I realized they’re made with real nail polish like my faves from Incoco. They stretch to fit every nail regardless of the shape, and really do last up to 2 weeks, especially if you do some upkeep, like putting a thin layer of top coat every 2 days or so. The bold graphic design in pretty pastel colors is very lovely, too.

Beauty Box 5 also included a temporary tattoo. I don’t know if they’re all the same or different, but I got a blue rose which looked like a print on my grandma’s old porcelain teapot. Temporary tattoos are a cool concept, but I just can’t see myself wearing them.

MY THOUGHTS:

There are several products that stood out to me from these boxes. First of all, that Manna Kadar highlighter is absolutely stunning! It’s so pigmented and buttery, I can’t wait to use it on the high points of my face and as a glorious shimmery eyeshadow. Starlooks lip liner was another great find. Since Kylie made matte, slightly overlined lips a thing, I’ve been going through my stash of lip liners like it’s nobody’s business, and this one will be put to a good use as well. I also really enjoyed the hemp lip balm because it was really hydrating, but didn’t feel heavy on the lips. From the March box I really loved Mai Couture beauty papers. I was thinking I’d save them for traveling, but I probably won’t be able to resist using them for my regular daily makeup.
