Beauty Box 5 August 2016

Unlike the previous months, my Beauty Box 5 August 2016 came really early so I had some extra time to play with all of the goodies inside before writing this review. Instead of the usual five products, this time we got six, and they were all generously-sized. In August Beauty Box 5 invites us to relax, unwind, and enjoy a SPA day at home with these indulgent little treats.

CONTENTS:

1 // NIKA Facial Exfoliating Brush [$17, available here] – I know for a fact these ultra soft cleansing brushes are very popular in Korea. Unlike the sonic brushes we have here, these provide much gentler exfoliation and can be used daily even on sensitive skin.

2 // Olive Natural Beauty Olive Natural Beauty Elixir [$36, available here] – I love a good watery essence, and this one seems to be really nice so far. I tried it maybe 2 or 3 times just to make sure it can keep up with my hydration needs, and my combination skin enjoyed that boost of nourishment. For the daytime I would massage 3-5 drops, but I use a full dropper in the PM 😉

3 // VO5 Hot Oil Therapy Treatment [$2.59, available here] – A hot oil hair treatment is totally perfect for a SPA day at home! Beauty Box 5 recommends first warming up the closed tube in hot water, then massaging the entire contents into hair and scalp, and washing off with your favorite shampoo and conditioner as usual. My locks felt like silk!

4 // DID. HAIR SPA Day Hair Ties [$6.50, available here] – Luna steals and hides my elastics daily so I was happy to receive some more. While I’m not crazy about the design on these, I will still wear them at home to keep the hair out of my face.

5 // Global Beauty Care Retinol SPA Treatment Mask [$11.99, available here] – What’s a SPA day without a sheet mask? I use them daily or at least every other day, and there are few things I love to receive in my beauty subscription boxes more than additional sheet masks to add to my collection. I actually didn’t have a chance to try this one yet, but the fact that it’s a retinol mask makes it a no-brainer choice for my PM routine.

6 // Rave 4x Mega Unscented Hairspray [$2.79, available here] – This sample came as a bonus, but I probably won’t be using it because I am very particular about my hair styling products. My mom, however, already has dibs on this one. She loves the crunchy hold and lots of volume, so she will surely enjoy this one.

BOTTOM LINE:

I think this was a very successful interpretation of a SPA day themed box, wouldn’t you say? We got a cleansing brush, a hair treatment, a mask, some elastics to put your hair up, and of course the very generous bottle of essence, which turned out to be my favorite sample of the month.

Have you tried cleansing brushes like this one from NIKA? What are some of your favorite SPA day indulgences? Let me know in the comments below!
