Five Ways to Save Time in the Morning

This conversation was sponsored by Nivea, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hey, busy ladies, don’t you just wish there were more hours in a day sometimes? I know I do, especially when I have a super long list of things to do, but making it all happen is not humanly possible, and sacrificing my grooming rituals is just not an option. That’s where time-saving tricks come in!

Five Ways to Save Time in the Morning with Nivea In Shower Body Lotion >> https://glamorable.com | via @glamorableLuckily, there are some nifty beauty products that can help add more minutes to your day! Here are just some of the things I do when I know I’m going to be hard-pressed on time:

1. The night before, I apply pure coconut oil to my hair and wrap it with a thin Turkish towel. I got one from a beauty box last year, and it’s fabulous! Use any piece of cloth that you feel comfortable sleeping in, or don’t wrap it at all and just throw the pillowcase in the laundry basket. In the morning my hair is already pre-conditioned, so all I need to do is wash off the oil with some mild shampoo. Time saved: 3 minutes.

2. In the shower, after using my regular body wash, I slather a generous layer of NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion on wet skin, and rinse it off. The whole process takes about 30 seconds, as opposed to several minutes it would take me to apply a normal lotion, wait for it to dry, and then put on the clothes. Time saved: 7 minutes.

3. My skin care ritual can take several pages of text if I wrote about each of the steps separately, so finding multi-tasking products here can be problematic. I did however find some Korean pre-soaked pads that will replace all steps in your morning skin care routine, except sunscreen. Simply rub your face with the rough side first for 15 seconds, then gently pat in the liquid with the soft side for another 15; apply sunscreen and you’re done! Time saved: 10 minutes.

4. I have long hair, and it takes a while to dry it in the morning, that’s why a powerful hair dryer is a must. The one I have right now lets out a strong stream of air that helps speed up the process considerably. Time saved: 15 minutes.

5. Multi-tasking makeup and easy-to-apply cosmetics are huge time savers, too, since I don’t need to prep and clean my brushes or execute MUA-worthy blending techniques. One pump of BB cream quickly spread over my skin, a couple finger swipes of my favorite shimmery cream eye shadow, and a dab of lipstick on cheeks and lips is all it takes. Add two quick coats of mascara and use one of those convenient brow gels for an effortlessly pulled together look. Time saved: 20 minutes.

I had no idea that Nivea made an in shower body lotion. Very cool.

Until very recently I was in the dark, too. It was a fun discovery, and a real time saver!

What a cute and helpful idea for a post! I haven’t tried the in-shower body lotions because I’m afraid they’ll make the tub too slippery, and I’m not good with cleaning it after every shower. Do they make the floor slippery?

Multi tasking makeup is a must, especially for the summer!

    • July 6, 2015 / 9:32 pm

Agreed! I usually exercise “less is more” looks, because otherwise makeup feels like a heavy mask on my combination skin.

I sort of multi-task but I don’t like to cut corners. If that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your ritual.

Me neither, and I would much rather do a full skin care ritual, but sometimes we just need those extra hours in a day 🙂 I wish life had a pause button, haha!

I love in the shower body lotions they save so much time, and leave you smelling nice.

    • July 6, 2015 / 9:34 pm

Right? I like using shower lotions during Spring and Summer months, and switch to oils for the colder months.

In shower lotion is SO SMART. I love how it lets me skip the dry skin feeling straight out of a hot shower

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:48 pm

Right? I love the idea, too. I used to apply regular body lotions and oils in the shower, but this one is actually meant to be used this way. Good stuff!

I love in shower lotion. I used to use one all the time but forgot about it. I’ll have to pick some of this up.

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:51 pm

It definitely saves a lot of time in the morning! I still prefer to spend time massaging a regular lotion before turning in for the night though, so no shortcuts there 😉

The in shower lotion is super great since I won’t have to mess with it when I’m all wet from the shower

I like the sound of the shower lotion since I forget to use a body lotion on too many days.

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:52 pm

You and me both, Marcia. I usually don’t forget to apply it in the evening, but I often used to ship it after my morning shower.

Shower Lotion intrigued me. I will hunt this down!

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:52 pm

I hope you like it, Kath! It’s a surprisingly great product that I expected to love way less than I actually do.

Makeup in pencils or sticks can be a time saver for sure – but not as much fun as playing with all the brushes! lol. I do like them a lot, though.

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:53 pm

I love playing with makeup, but sometimes the rush is real 🙂

  12. July 7, 2015 / 3:46 am

Fabulous tips. I’m currently using a body wash with a lotion in it and it’s amazing. 🙂

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:53 pm

Thank you, Laura! And a great tip to use body wash with a lotion, I’ll try that trick when this one runs out.

  13. July 8, 2015 / 12:28 pm

I’m all about saving time!! Hair takes the longest for me so I usually skip it and throw it in a mom bun haha

    • July 8, 2015 / 3:54 pm

Same here, girl, my hair is fine, but sooooo long, and it takes forever to dry. Thank goodness for a strong hair dryer!
