Colourpop Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl Review & FOTD

purchased

I keep being impressed by Colourpop, an inexpensive boutique makeup brand, whose popularity blew up over the past few months, because of their range of affordable high quality products. If you are not familiar with this brand yet, you should definitely check them out!

Colourpop Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl swatches, review & makeup look >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableThanks to Colourpop, my cream shadow collection keeps on growing, and today I wanted to show you three more Super Shock Shadows I picked up recently – Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl, which I actually got for free as part of the brand’s Birthday promo. All three eye shadows have different finishes, and worked well together to help create a fun look that’s not too flat or too shimmery.

Colourpop Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl swatches, review & makeup look >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableIntoxicate is described as a warm caramel brown with matte finish, and while it looks darker in the pan, on my skin in leans more orangey brown. The finish is not a true matte, because the formula has fine pink shimmers in it that give this color a slight satiny sheen. Intodicate was released as part of Rumer Has It collection in collaboration with Rumer Willis.

Can you believe it’s already been a year? Time flies! This eye shadow came in a Limited Edition pink pan with a Birthday cupcake hologram on the cap. I would describe the shade as a neutral-toned medium grayish brown with silver and iridescent shimmer and metallic finish. I’m not that great at working with metallics, so I found the application a tad challenging. It swatched well on my wrist, but trying to layer it over another color was a tricky task. I ended up dabbing it on with my fingers and lightly smudging the edges to blend.

I love using it as a base for other eye shadows and on its own, because it’s super easy to apply, and the color keeps looking fresh and tidy on the lids throughout the day. Plunge was released as part of Summer 2015 collection.

Colourpop Plunge Dupe (over NC15 skin) >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableIt’s actually a near-dupe for another Colourpop eye shadow I already use and love – my favorite XO [reviewed here]. You can see in the comparison swatch that the two are nearly identical, although they look different in pans.

Colourpop Plunge Dupe (over NC15 skin) >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableWhile they’re both warm-toned and equally shimmery, Plunge leans toward rose gold, and XO is more champagne. By the way, these pictures were taken a while ago, right now I’m pretty much scraping clean my XO pan.

Colourpop Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl swatches, review & makeup look >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableSwatch reference: My skin tone is between MAC NC15 and NW15 with yellowish hue and neutral undertones. Sometimes I can wear NW20 in the Summer. I thought this would be useful to know, since all screens show colors differently, and I also don’t have a studio setup with consistent lighting. Hope that helps!

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. All three of these colors work really well together, and can be worn alone or layered with one another to create many different looks, including the caramel smokey eye that you see in this FOTD. I created it in less than 5 minutes using nothing but my fingers.

Colourpop Plunge, Intoxicate, and Birthday Girl swatches, review & makeup look >> http://bit.ly/1fuPKfo || via @glamorableFirst I spread Plunge all over my top lid, but not extending the crease line, then smudged Intoxicate along the crease line and the bottom lash line. I finished the look by lightly dabbing Birthday Girl in the middle of the top eyelid to add extra oomph. I ended up skipping the eyeliner here for a more youthful look, but you can spice it up with some dramatic wings and falsies.
