I am so excited about this new emerging trend! More and more beauty companies are jumping on the popularity of subscription boxes and start offering their own mystery bundles at discounted prices. Now, Jouer is also offering one, and it’s even customizable. This new subscription is officially called Le Matchbox, and comes in a stunning giftable sturdy case that can be repurposed for storage.
HOW IT WORKS: For $45/season Le Matchbox subscribers will receive a box of full-sized and travel-sized Jouer beauty products, tailored to their skin type and undertones. Click here to check it out.
The very first Le Matchbox contained a mix of products with variations that depend on your undertones and skin type. The first product I took out of the box was the biggest – a full-sized bottle of Daily Repair Treatment Oil. As a variation, people who marked that they have oily skin, received Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil instead. I have to say, my skin is loving the way it feels – so smooth and supple, but not greasy at all! I hope they send another one in the Summer box 😉
The next product that had variations was a full-sized Creme Eyeshadow Crayon. Those who chose cool undertones received Abstract shade, and Renaissance for warm undertones. The color is beautiful to look at, and the amount of shimmer in the formula is perfect – fun, but not juvenile. This grayish deep purple color really brings out my hazel eyes, and the formula has some serious staying power – when I tried cleaning my arm swatches with a makeup remover wipe, it wouldn’t budge until I rubbed it many times. That’s a winner for oily eyelids, ladies!
Another product with variations was the Mineral Powder Blush. Warm undertone profiles received Blossom or Peach Bouquet, and cool undertone profiles got Peony, which by the way is an iconic Jouer shade. My blush had gorgeous soft feel to it and the color, even though it’s matte, looked anything but flat, bringing out the warmth in my neutral skin. If you want to see it in action, check my Girlintuitive Teardrop Earrings post, I’m wearing it in those selfies.
Everyone also received a travel-sized Eyelash Curler and a Flat Kabuki Brush to go with the blush, which is made with natural bristles that blend out the pigments with ease, creating natural-looking flush within seconds.
Every box also contained a lip product, and there were many variations to that one. Regardless of the undertones, everybody had a chance of receiving either a Hydrating Lipstick or a Moisturizing Lip Gloss. Warm undertone boxes had a chance of receiving either Hamptons lip gloss or Meredith lipstick; cool undertones would get either a Peony lip gloss or Whitney lipstick.
This lipstick is the most perfect “nude” color for my complexion, it adds color to the lips without looking flashy – perfection for daytime and an amazing companion for dark smoky eye makeup.
Lastly, everybody got a small roll-on vial of Jouer Perfume Oil. First thought: lilacs, lots and lots of ’em! I was wrong, and the product card actually says gardenia, jasmine, and honeysuckle, which is an ultra-floral and super-feminine fragrance, perfect for late Spring and Summer months when these flowers are in bloom. A small dab gives off a very potent throw, so it’s easy to overuse – one quick dot on each wrist was all I needed.
So there you have it, our very first Le Matchbox experience! I was very happy with my inaugural box, and thought that it was the perfect timing to start my Jouer collection [getting a little bored with my LMdB Vault VIP lately].
Swatch reference: My skin tone is between MAC NC15 and NW15 with neutral undertones. Sometimes I can wear NW20 in the Summer. I thought this would be useful to know, since all screens show colors differently, and I also don’t have a studio setup with consistent lighting. Hope that helps!

Everything looks amazing!
Right? Jouer did really well with this selection.
I’ve been curious about this box! I really like that they selected different products for people based on skin tone/undertone. As someone who’s fair with warm undertones, i think more companies/boxes should do that!
Totally! Curating boxes for individual undertones was a fantastic idea, it almost guarantees that you’ll love the products inside. I’m a huge fan already thanks to this box 😉
